In this episode of 23 Stories, presented by Volkswagen, Rapinoe shares a few personal revelations that led to her playing some of the best soccer of her career in her early 30s. Her comfort in who she is as a player, person and leader has helped foster a tight team bond among the players on the U.S. team as it prepares for the 2019 Women's World Cup in France.

Megan speaks out of some really important issues, ok, maybe she could have done it all a bit differently, i.e. without that 'kneeling thing', but this is Megan and this is her way to fight for something she truly believes in, fight for herself and for many other women out there, gay or straight alike. My grandpa fought in 3 wars, one time he even had to dig his own grave (!), but by some miracle survived that ordeal. 23rd of February & 9th of May - those are the only days people suddenly remember about our War Veterans in RF. It's a very upsetting subject, but it is true. I'm very sorry about your granddad, I'm sure he was a good man. I know mine was. I’ve read the comments here and most of them are very supportive but to the couple here hating on her especially about the anthem thing please leave her alone. I actually know Megan and she’s a great kid. That whole thing was blown royally out of praportion. There was a lot more to that than the public knew. I won’t go into all of that one because one I’m not sure if Meg wants me to approach it and two it’s to deep and will take too long to discuss. You don’t have to support and agree with every single thing some one does to still be able to support them in the long run. I wouldn’t have necissarioy used that meathod but at least it was peaceful and she wasn’t being violent like the Baltimore and Ferguson protests. So let’s get over that it is what it is. You don’t have to like her but still be civil about it and support the whole team. I’m not a fan of Carli Lloyd because I think she has selfish tendencies but I will still support everybody because they ar all apart of team USA. Honestly I could not be happier or more proud of the USWNT! However, what she did during the WC is not ok! Politics and personal politics should never have been part of the tournament. What she did was uncalled for and disrespectful… You’re on the world stage you have kids who are watching and looking up to you and disrespecting the country you are playing for is just unforgivable. You would never see this from any other player from any other country in the world... it would never happen.
