Every player has a coach who was vitally important in their growth as a player. In this episode of 23 Stories, presented by Volkswagen, U.S. WNT midfielder Rose Lavelle shares the impact that the coach of her first club team - Neil Bradford -- had on her. Neil sadly passed away three years ago, but Rose credits him for helping foster the creative side of her game which has made her a fan favorite and helped earn her a spot on her first World Cup Team.

I’m a lacrosse player but this story hit home so hard. Thanks to players like you we continue to share our journey and the sports we love. I didn’t play soccer like you but thank to players like you and the rest of the uswnt I got to “express the love of the game” a lot of time we don’t get to express our emotions but I’m so blessed that because of you tonight I got to cope with a loss that has Ben so hard for me to see.. thanks to you and the rest of the team I got to feel something I haven’t felt in a long time... That final goal you made was something to behold ! I've been playing and watching soccer since the mid 70's and there was something so special about it. The way you carefully lead the ball between your feet until the last second before snapping it off was truly incredible.
