I loved garage music back in the day but the club nights in London were brutal the violence was unbelievable, i remember seeing a guy who had duck taped a huge machete to his leg and tried to hack someone's arm off in the club it was terrifying!! 😮
@janephillips60314 күн бұрын
I used to take care of the VIP list at leisure lounge for Tony (RIP) @ CREAM.OF DA CROP. Every week we had trouble with guys bringing Stanley knives in.. limping up to the door man...metal detector goes off and they just say "oh it's my belt" or "it's the gold buckles on my shoes"..the doorman hardly challenged anything. Who comes clubbing with a pair of scissors down their cracks and doesn't realise,?? I started wearing a bullet proof vest and stood just inside the doorway and never had my back to the street (same fir camden palace nights we did there). So solid crew were arriving (god knows how many in the group but always like a plus 30 VIP expectation), and always trouble kicked off in the club when they were doing a PA. The Russians were taking a lot money away from promoters in Central London too. No idea if so solid were just bad news or just the timings.. but no clubs could get an ok for any 'crew' or speed garage nights. But then Garage City at Bar Rumba... totally different vibe

This was a great episode Dodge, not only interesting but brought back some incredible memories. For me speed garage was the start of the downfall of the club scene. At my first world dance Jungle was in the main room and House was in the back room however over the next year the roles became reversed and House just exploded (funky, handbag, etc). At this point Garage was still quite light and co-existed with house for a good 2 years then suddenly speed garage was born, with that came a much darker sound and a different clientele as well as MC's and I'll be honest I'm not a fan of MC's at raves, they spoil the music for me but with the change of people came the change of drugs being taken and it went from a room of people taking pills on a great vibe to a room full of people taking coke and smoking crack and the whole scene just got really moody and that then started people bringing weapons, fortunately I got out once the MC's came in, as I said I'm not a fan so I was done.

Don’t know about everyone else but I would love makers of ROTFS to make a film about Marcus Redwood. You could make a whole series of films just off the back of the interviews Dodge has done with him 😂 It feels to me like the ROTFS films, as funny as they are, are really starting to struggle for material now. There’s a whole new bank of crazy exciting stories to tap into with Marcus. Plus as they say all the best stories are the true ones. Got a wealth of material there, ROTFS fans would definitely jump straight from one to the other and Dodge has the connections for both. Love for that to happen
