The more you watch this and read about Ruiz the more you realize it was "a huge upset" only in the eyes of the mainstream media, who portray heavyweight champions as sculpted, tall, muscular and mostly black. Ruiz was 33-1 coming in and had NEVER been on the canvas. He had superb speed in his hands and had a good inside game. An upset against the odds and the media portrayals, yes. But not that big an upset when you put the fighters up against each other and strip away the narrative. Great commentary by Tyson, Balboa, and the others. Thanks.

When you add it all up this is probably the greatest of all heavy weight fights, at least for me. I've watched it at least 10 times from all angels and I finally saw what I was looking for. I remember this fight - it inspired me then - watching it now I'm even more inspired. Andy is a real fighter. He's got great skills and his speed is uncanny for a big man. And he can take a punch and keep coming forward. He looks like a fat slob, but he is the epitome of "Don't judge a book by its cover." Despite his body shape, he has incredible stamina and can trade leather at a fast pace for 12 hard rounds. This fight grew AJ as a fighter too. He endured such humiliation and he has come back with a renewed killer instinct. Fighting is a form of intimacy that exposes everything. It is the theatre of life and a mirror for all of us, for we are all, in some way, in the big fight - the fight of life.
