Clever design. Returning the once-split wood back to the wedge is brilliant. The other changes are also very well thought out. I can't believe the number of people that use a splitter that is a foot or more too low. They will have back problems in later life. Think thrice, measure twice, and build once.

That is a great idea - There was a gentleman in Spooner WI that made these in the early 80s with a sliding log rack on both sides - Built more heavy duty than any splitter I have ever seen in 40 years - My dad purchased one in 1980 - I own and use it yet to this day, in fact just fabricated a hydraulic log lift that moves with the ram and cut one side of the rack off to accommodate. Your work looks very well fabricated.

I think you have a great concept for your log splitter , one thing I would suggest is to take two foot high bottom half of the bladder from the IC tote to put under your splitter to catch all the debris’s so you do not have to rake it up later…

Nice idea on the traveling tray - great idea (you should patent it before someone takes the concept and sells it to the big companies). Don't care for a 4way wedge but to each their own. Hopefully you didn't spend a lot of money on the renovation and will be able to enjoy the splitter. Stay safe.

OEC, i`ve watched your build on this... my friend, you are on a different level. LOVE what you did here with this log splitter!!!!! I`m an old skool machinist, tool & die maker, (long before CNC technology was ever known) i can surely appreciate what you`ve done here. Best MODS i`ve seen to date! The only thing i can suggest is, put some wood gripping teeth on that push plate before a log jumps out of the split and hits you or someone standing near it while splitting. EDIT: I HAD to sub and like your channel. So much good stuff here! Thank youuuuuu, for what you do!

Nice fab work and a good looking, very functional machine. I tend to split everything in the vertical position since a high percentage of my firewood comes in very large rounds (20" to 36" diameter). I'm not too interested in lifting those up to the splitter at waist height, so I choose to roll them from the pile to split 'em, then toss the split pieces into my truck or trailer for hauling to the woodsheds.
