I see what your going for with the texture , a bark look , I like it . The tool you might be thinking of is a brass brush , a wire brush "steel" might be too harsh and tear the grain . Good suction fit too . Thanks for sharing .

Well done! I like the shapes of both the box and the finial. The texturing is definitely cool, however I think I agree with Richard Raffan about extending it to the bottom. That it stops at the joint of the lid and bottom seems a bit too abrupt. I definitely would like to see some greens and blues mixed with the orange. I think that would break the somewhat static mood of the orange. It would tease the eye as you turn it in your hand or walk around it as the colors would be changing. I think this box is an excellent start of a series of boxes. As a project that inspires viewers, you've hit a home run! Great job!

Excellent. Leaving yourself an out with the finial unfinished nub for later use with the live center was a great move. I find myself sometimes not thinking ahead enough, sometimes making the completion of a piece more complicated than it needs to be. Great work!

That was a great project, Tomislav! I like your recent embellishments. You taught us about cleaning up the carving with a brush before paint. Next time. That form, where the final begins, is very good. I thought of a question. Is the top of the finial angled, or is it true? It's not important, I couldn't tell and was curious.

I like the shape and texturing, Tomi. Not so sure about the color on top and the sapwood and heartwood on the bottom. I have a box by Benoit Averly that is somewhat similar in overall shape but your is more practical as his is more like a hollow form with the finial being the top of the vessel. Interesting changes KZbin has made with the description area showing video links that were inserted as cards. I like the easy access to the trasnscript.

Nicely done! When I was learning to turn, 35 years ago, the only information I could find was Dennis White's videos. His method of hollowing end grain was slightly different than yours and Richard's. If you can find one of his videos it's fun to watch how he did it. Dennis made 6 videos and it's clear that he spent many years making pepper mills! Again, nice job on the box! I have really enjoyed watching you work!

I really look forward to the first of the month for this very reason. I really like the shape and the carving adds some unique visual interest. The orange, as you say, is interesting and I think it's the kind of thing that grows on one as you continue to look at the piece. I'm glad I'm not the only person who gets impatient while waiting for finish to cure (or adhesives for that matter). Overall, this is a really cool looking piece. Now, off to watch the other three videos.

Hi Tomislav, I like the form as well as the color! But I think it would have looked a bit better if it was a bit less color, so less grooves in general, maybe 2/3 of what you have now. Nevertheless that's a really nice effect and I think you inspired me to try something similar 🤗 Thanks for your content, have a nice week 🤗

@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning Of course it's personal preference 🤗 It might also be that I wouldn't like the result if I saw it with only 2/3 of the grooves 😂 In my head I like it, who knows if it actually turned out that way 😂 But I'm looking forward to your next video, the technique is nice 💃🏽

Thank you for the video. A very beautiful box. The paint is too much, I shouldn't have painted it. Instructive video, you showed the artistic design of the boxes. After the tung oil, did you use beeswax or is it a polishing paste?

@@tomislavtomasicwoodturning If you do this, the shine will disappear in a day. Still, you need to let the oil dry, and then apply wax and water. In my works I use Carnauba wax instead of beeswax. Thanks for the answers. P.S I let the oil dry for 2 days. I use Danish oil Watco. Yesterday I found a piece of a car spring, I will make a scraper :) My scrapers are sharpened at 80 degrees. I will do under 45 as you have.
