Thanks Mark. Great day! I had good day off my paddle board over by Swan lake the other day as well. You were my inspiration to get one. I took a swim on my very first trip. Water was only 18 inches deep but I sunk in the mud up to my knees. You’re definitely right about the higher center of gravity thing! I now have outriggers (training wheels) that I mounted to the board.
@marksfishingchannel99232 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve, I been there with my first board lol .
@saxet90492 жыл бұрын
Steve, do you use a boat to shuttle your board to/from the marsh? I bought a board last year (Because of Mark’s awesome videos) but have only used it 3 times due to the rarity of allowable wind/wave conditions for the 1 mile open water transit to my nearest spot. I like fishing from the board vs my kayak due to the stealth, comfort, deck space, and elevated view point. Wish I could use it more often. How far do you have to transit?
@stevemacinnis12092 жыл бұрын
@@saxet9049 yes, I have a black fin 10’6” board that is quite robust. Has plenty of tie down/towing rings so I tow it behind my 12’ port-a-bore with a 6 hp 4 stroke. I typically go a few miles from the put in then hop on the board to get back deeper in the marsh.
@saxet90492 жыл бұрын
@@stevemacinnis1209 sounds like a great set-up. I was looking hard at those porta-boats a few years ago. I liked the lightweight/folding design. Aren’t you worried about leaving it unattended while you’re in the marsh?
@stevemacinnis12092 жыл бұрын
@@saxet9049I usually get back deep enough to get the boat pretty hidden in the grass or mangrove. The port-a-bote can get pretty shallow itself so I’m already too shallow for most other boats. Plus most of the time I’m all by myself.

Hi Mark. If i was going to do some blind casting in an area like that, could I throw a swim bait hook rigged weedless or a weedless jig head and keep the grass off or is that grass so thick that it would still get on your lure? Also do you have any lures or tips for bouncing around shallow oyster bars without getting hung up all the time? Thank you for any advise👍🏻
@marksfishingchannel99232 жыл бұрын
Yes you could rig up a weedless and work it in most of what I was in on this video and it would help with the oysters as well . as far as tips use as light of lure as you can cast when that kind of water.

Awesome video mark! I love your style of catching redfish. I have a couple questions for ya If you don’t mind… What size Jighead are you using with that H&H curly? Also do you tie a loop knot or straight on? Seems like you mostly do a straight retrieve for the most part? I live in eastern North Carolina, I do a lot of kayak fishing. I throw a lot of top water and swim baits but I often run into an issue where they won’t touch the swim baits. Do you find that the curly tails are more subtle?
@marksfishingchannel99232 жыл бұрын
Thanks, it is a 1/8th jighead and I tie straight on. curly tail may be a little more subtle. but I have days when they will not take anything I cast at them.
