Could the green in the porphyry be epidot?
@rodenbergrocks Жыл бұрын
I never considered that! It could be, but I’m not certain. I don’t find much epidote in this area, but I could be surprised!

I could be wrong, but I believe the green on the Porphory is Epidot.

I think that would make sense. So that makes me wonder if porphyry can either be feldspar crystals or epidote crystals?

Good question! Yea I find a few rocks once in a while that seem to be rebels to the norm. I believe Minnesota has a much broader range of mineral formations than many geologists give credit to.

Hey Rod, quick question. Are you having a hard time finding agates right now? Because the spots i go in S. St. Louis county are about as barren as a desert when it comes to agates. We just have not been getting ANY rain, so I know that is the real reason, but I was just wondering if you were having the same issue. Same story all summer, the lines of storms just break apart about 4 miles from my creeks. Sunday will be different though. I've been praying for rain and I believe GOD is going to bless me this time. By the way, I personally love your Moss agate. I'm partial to them, and don't find many that haven't been busted down to quarter size pieces. Thank you for a straight LSA channel!!!

Hello! Many of the rivers that I often visit are pretty barren as well. Not many new rocks can be washed up, so it makes it more difficult to find them but they are still there! I have been spending more time in the gravel pits and the beach lately as I await for rain too! Thanks for being apart of this LSA community :)

Thank you Rod for taking the time to respond to me. I appreciate your straightforwardness. I'm sensing much of the same for the Arrowhead region,as even Agatedad is doing no real new vids on actual hunting. However, you are right, they're still there. We just need take more time looking harder , longer in the areas we hunt, and a REALLY GOOD RAIN to wash the scum and turn the rock beds over. Yea, I just got back from Carolina a month ago, so I missed what appears to have been a VERY, VERY, VERY HEAVY, or FAST thaw this year judging by the way the rock beds in my main creek have changed dramatically from last agate season. If you want send me a link where I can send a few pics of this season's finds. I really am yaying a lot of your Limonite stained finds that day you found those two really big agates Lakeside. Have a good day. I'm about to head out now and search a section of " Limonite creek" as I call it, I haven't searched yet since I've been back.

Will be glad to send a few pics. I'm also going to be watching more of your videos, and support in any way I can as a member of your community. I'm just juggling my time between settling down having just moved back, working a temporary job until the new one starts, and trying to find the time to hit the sections of my longest creek; I haven't been watching many of any agate videos yet. Thank you again Rod and have a great day.
