Kenny Rogers Roasters is a chain of fast-food restaurants known for their rotisserie chicken and other comfort food offerings. The restaurant chain was founded by country music star Kenny Rogers and former KFC CEO John Y. Brown Jr. in 1991. Kenny Rogers Roasters was promoted as a healthier and less greasy alternative to traditional fried chicken, as their chicken was roasted using a special wood-fired rotisserie oven.
The menu at Kenny Rogers Roasters typically includes a variety of chicken dishes, such as the famous rotisserie chicken, as well as side dishes like mashed potatoes, cornbread, coleslaw, and more. The restaurant also offered a selection of soups, salads, and sandwiches. Kenny Rogers Roasters gained popularity in the 1990s, and at its peak, it had hundreds of locations in the United States and internationally.
However, the chain faced financial difficulties and began to decline in the late 1990s. In 1998, Kenny Rogers Roasters filed for bankruptcy, and many of its locations were closed. Some international locations of the restaurant continued to operate successfully, and the brand remains active in some parts of Asia, including Malaysia and the Philippines, where it is still a well-known fast-food brand.
While the presence of Kenny Rogers Roasters has significantly diminished in the United States, it continues to have a nostalgic place in the hearts of those who remember the chain during its heyday.

Kenny Rodgers Roasters had many US locations in the 1990's, it was even featured in an episode of Seinfeld. It filed for bankruptcy in 1998 and the US stores closed. In April 2008, Berjaya Corp Bhd (BCorp) wholly owned subsidiary of ROASTERS Asia Pacific and master franchise for Kenny Rogers ROASTERS fully acquired the chain's parent, US-based NF Roasters. I remember going there in the 1990s in South Florida, it always had good chicken.

It will be the first restaurant I visit when I land in Cebu this August. I miss that restaurant in the U.S. I know that supermarkets selling rotisserie chickens helped kill them, but there was no comparison. No supermarket chicken comes close to the taste and quality of what I used to get at Kenny Rogers Roasters.
