Beautiful. Looks very similar to the Grandfather Mountain hike in North Carolina.

@@BrightTripTravel I hiked the Grandfather Trail earlier this week and it definitely offers a similar awesome experience to Old Rag. I spent half a day there while visiting Asheville.

I’m starting to plan a trip to the park. If you had to pick two must do hikes, what would they be?

Matthew's Arm aint bad either. I live in DC and I have hiked several trails in this area. Matthew's Arm, Old Rag and, if you're looking for an extra challenge: Big Schloss, located just over the West Virginia border!

I love Shenandoah NP. Was there two years ago, and stayed in one of their little cabins. The food isn't great at the park (barring the blackberry shakes). You seem a bit younger than me, but I did have a nice hike within the park. BTW, imo, the drive is worth the $30 (and gas--the gas IS expensive), unless you live in the area and can go any time.
