I own this wheel base for about 10 month now. I came from Fanatec DD1 and for me it was big step forward. Especially when it comes to smootheness. Even though the steering wheels may not look great, they - the formula wheel and the button box - are my absolute favorites. I also don't mind that the buttons themselves aren't illuminated. You quickly get used to the fact that only the lettering is illuminated. Asetek also listens to the community's wishes. The support via Discord is just great and you usually get an answer within minutes that you can do something with. Fanatec should learn a lesson from this. Asetek manages to reach a very large customer base with just a few support employees. I have never regretted switching to Asetek.

@@ToastyBunzs Hello mate! I am currently using my Asetek Invicta + GSI Hyper P1 steering wheel + SRP pedals (Sim Racing Pro). The good thing about Asetek is that it gives you total freedom to use the peripherals you want the most. So if you decide to use all Asetek it will be a great decision since the quality is very, very TOP!!! But if in the future you want to update, you can do it perfectly!!! Greetings mate!!!!

Nice review. I am expecting the La Prima wheel and base in next few days, also waiting on Fanatec V2 pedals, but gonna take longer to arrive. Anyway very much looking forward to it, especially being my first DD wheel. I plan on upgrading to the Forte 18nm when available, and will keep the La Prima wheel until the Invicta wheel gets released.

@grasstreefarmer
@grasstreefarmer 7 ай бұрын
I think the quick release is the best feature. You can get adaptors for Fanatec wheels and all the wiring can be internal, you don't have to have a cable flapping at all. The same is true with a growing number of 3rd party wheel makers. If they make USB wheels they can do all the wiring internally to the QR. You can also buy sort of 'OEM' versions of the USB quick release itself for less than the kit price that does not include the extensions if you want to adapt something yourself. I don't want to be artificially locked to one brand thanks.

I went to Man Cave Expo in Birmingham last month. It was nice meeting you outside of the internet, Random. Here at Man Cave it was my first time of touching anything direct drive including the Forté. There was a Asetek station where you use a Forte to drive a Taatus around Silverstone. I had loads of tries and milked it, hahaha. So I'm gonna compare my CSL Elite to Asetek's wheelbase. That Forte was solid. I didn't like the rubber handles of the steering wheel but I got over it quickly. Moza's steering wheel from across the room feels nicer in my hands, can't remember if its the FSR or the GS. Forte's wheel feels like I am holding a piece of rock - you can't snap it even if you try. The Forte can give details that my CSL Elite cannot give. One of them is fight against your hands when you push too much throttle on corner exit. Forte lets you know what is too much or too little when applying gas on corner exit so you will never gas too hard by mistake. I can't do that with the Elite, it does but its usually too late. When it comes to feeling tyre load on cornering, you can feel a lot with the Forte. You can still feel some with the CSL but more vague and not as strong. And when you drive over curbs or accidently dip your wheels on the grass, the Forte wheel will shake hard. CSL Elite will still shake but obviously weaker. Finally did Asetek install a Butt-Kicker and not told me about it? Because each time I change gear the whole cockpit vibrates.

I went with Asetek for the USB Quick release. Absolute S tier product. Being able to use any third party USB wheel without dealing with the dangling cable was the big selling point for me. Means I can buy nice wheels and not be locked into any eco-system. Could even opt to add another QR to the Asetek one to get cheaper connectors. Bought mostly based on my experience testing various wheelbases at Simracing Expo this year. Was mighty impressed by the Asetek, particularly how close the feedback fidelity was between the Invicta and La Prima. Besides speed and strength they felt very similar. Made me confident I was buying a top tier product (in terms of ffb) by going with the La Prima. They definitely swayed me from Simagic.

Nowadays 12nm plus all direct drives are very close so they are comparable up to 20nm or so, and what they differ most is in ecossystem and software. The simucube isn't any different no matter what people say to put that base in a pedestal so in the topic I'm teasing it. I'd have a asetek over a simucube in a heartbeat because it's so much more straightforward in everything. The lá prima can be emulated in the forte by lowering the slew rate. I don't have, nor i think I'll have the clubsport plus to review. But it's all the same. So in the conclusions I say, it's the widht of a pintelho, so speaking with no filtering, I don't really give a damn about "which one is best", because best is personal based on relative terms. The asetek feels slightly better than the dd1, or maybe I can tune it better than the dd1, but guess what, I'm keeping the dd1 in the rig because it feels right and it's really practical to me. Don't give much credence to "best ffb" or whatever without much context to it because it's all very subjective.

@grasstreefarmer
@grasstreefarmer 7 ай бұрын
They are the same thing because Asetek supplies them to OEM's. It looks like Cube have added their own aluminium part and moved the wiring internally though. All they have to do is unsolder the female usb cable from the asetek part and solder a short cable to their own PCB or internal connector. Basically the same as Cubes QRX system but you don't have to have a USB cable on the wheelbase side.

Yeah i def dont believe it beats simucube. I dont like asetek ffb delivery as much. It feels like it has more built in inirtia and weight. Not just weight from ffb from the game. I preder raw feelings i dont like filters or added weight unless its truely just the ffb. Thats what I love about simucube. When hifh speed corners its controllsble and not so tight or springy in the middle that you can actually feel the give in the ffb to find that limit of grip. This new style from asetek of a faux center forces instead of utilizing true ffb queues from the game I just dont like how they are doing it. Its very notcieable in acc compared to other bases. I like free flowing strong wheelbases that feel loose snappy and heavy from ffb not built in dampening or added inirtia. It seems asetek is using some especially high speed inirtia even if turned off. I prefer both simucube and simagic much more. Im not the only one who pointed this out so did laurence in his review. I get that the details aka vibrations and stuff are good and direct but i think we are now getting into a phase of ffb where its being over played. The most importsnt feeling will always be the limit of grip. Feeling the actual ffb gove and grab give and grab where you can push over the limit to find it. But now brands are trying to sdd even more center forces and details in a fake way that it hurts the feel for me. We have had plenty of details on bases for a while now. Adding in some fake details doesnt impress me. Im not one seweching for more curb details i have plenty already. Im looking for the best feeling wheel when unfer beaking, under throttle turning in and reacting to every little input i make. Which we have with simucube and simagic. I completely understand why you turn every down or off now after trying the newer wheelbases and comparing them to goats like simucube and simagic. That method and delivery is just so much better and you can actually utilize the settings without it ruining the feel. For the settings and preference you have dude you would love either of these brands. Thats legit what they are good at. That unfiltered feel yet buttery smooth.
