I served in the Swiss air force from 2003 to 2012.. so many memories. So many time on the runway watching these take off. Ive seen those very planes thousands of times, always with the same feelings.

Hallo! Ich hab da eine Frage.Was bedeutet eigentlich das "STBY 121.50" auf dem Centerline Tank?
@c_loud_87003 ай бұрын

@@swright5690 As much as I love the F-5, I wish they started with a clean sheet on the F-18, It's not a bad plane, but I don't care for the looks (I'd be a terrible head of company...basing this on solely looks).

I might agree with you if it weren't for the F-20. Growing up around the Houston area, I was a huge fan of the T-38/F-5 platform as a young boy. But I can remember the day that I saw the F-20 on the cover of a magazine at the gas station. Love at first sight! :) Something about that fanny just made it a completely different animal than the F-5.

A couple of things: First, nice video work, the F-5 against the sunset colour, super! Second, the "ding-ding-ding..." I sat near the road during a landing, I noticed the control tower "pop up", and noticed the jet🛫 crossing road sign, and the "dinging" like at a railway crossing!😂

At 1:28 the plane passes an 'old' hotel. This hotel was aquired by Chinese (some of which with questionable permit of stay). Perfect location for spying on active duty planes of the Swiss Air Force and, even worse, evaluating/testing new fighter jets.

9 Nov 2024 No one maintained their squadrons of Northrop Tiger ll F-5s as well as the Swiss. They were well put together by the Swiss in the first place and were virtually new years later when the U.S. Navy wanted all they were avaiable as the Swiss Air Force transitioned to the F-18s. Several countries are still using the F-5E and F-5 for flight training and Air Defense.

Only about one third of Switzerland is more or less flat land... And the mountains provide protection. So during world wars and especially the cold war it made sense. There is even an airfield inside a mountain (but I think they can only start from. there).
