Rode in one of these years ago. My dad had a antique car show in the park every year for the 4th of July. Beautiful car in blue as well ❤️

I remember a neighborhood friend in the early 70s whose dad had one original. Wonder what happened with it 🤔

Is it ok to leave the tops on these stuck in mid retract? Like I'd never do that with the retractable hardtop on my car.

There are only 7 electric motors in it that operate the top

Yes, but Renault cars are hard to find, and there are maybe two in the world that exist with the retractable top. And they were special order for the welthy in the 30s. In the 50s these cars were economically friendly. That's why these tops were put on the Fairlane. The tops if put on continentals would make the cars value go up, so the Fairlane was the next option. Because it allowed for people to buy a unique car that could seat more people than a Continental, that had more style and pazas and allowed for a unique top for the price of a two seat, small and dainty Continental. That's why so many were produced, it was in 1960 that the Continental actually took off anyways. And Renaults from the 1930s in the 1950s were mostly in junk yards. So, yeah stick to your rich people shit and don't try to bring the common man's car down simply because a car in the 30s had it first. It proved that a car in the 50s could be economically produced and manufactured for the common man. And wasn't renault used by Hitler?

They were cool but a nightmare to repair. They often had operation problems.
