Once I figured out that you have to go through the combi in jacks on the back (not the guitar in) to activate the stereo outs (via USB) of this mixer, it became very, very useful indeed. I can now record stereo voice memos to my iPhone via the Apple camera adapter kit. A very solidly built piece of "kit" that is pleasing to the fingers and eyes and ears.

I’ve been looking for a new mixer, with its functionality and overall capabilities in all sound production scenarios this will do everything I need and much more. The amount of high quality built in Boss FX, 32Bit Float, mixer, audio interface, Bluetooth streaming, camera facilty, digital touchscreen, real time useful mixing, 4 headphone outs. For what it can do all in one small box this is gonna have to be the one for its low price. It’s uses in so many scenarios will be a god send for myself and very little setting up various other bits of gear.

This is perfect. I was just about to buy a GX100 for some FX, but this adds much more capability and I can see a lot more other uses for about 20% more. Plus I have some store credit I can use toward it.

I find it hard to mess around with my DAW and would like this to record my songs (get down the song structure, song dynamics, do a drum and bass track and vocal track etc...) and do a lot of the work before I send it to my DAW. Can you get drums on a track and does it have phantom power for the mic? I basically want to use it as a multitrack recorder. Also, can it be used as a DAW controller? At some point I want to play live again so can I store drums and bass from a song and play live with my guitar and sing at the same time (so does it have vocal effects and can the guitar and vocal effects be used at the same time for a small live gig)? Your help would be GREATLY appreciated and if it can't do those things, have you got any suggestions for me.... thanks in advance.

Ive been looking for something like this for a while to record playing guitar and uploading to KZbin, it seems the ultimate easy way of doing this, so tom i have the pixel 7 pro is it just a straight forward usb c from the gigmaster to my phone open the camera app and record? Thank you✌️

Roland support told me that it isn't compatible with Android only IOS. Boss' own videos just refer to 'smartphones' so it's not very clear. I've tried connecting my Android phone to my gigcaster 5 with a USB c to USB c cable and it doesn't appear to work. I haven't found anyone (yet) who has succesfully connected a gigcaster to an android phone.

Amazing info as always. Im a multi instrumental musician and singer doing live gigs. Playing sax, electronic percs, guitar sometimes and sing over backing traks at restaurants/bars/hotels. Do you think this device is a good one for carrying and using not for live streaming? Does it feel sturdy and strong enough for everyday gig out instead of in a safe home studio scenario? If yes its amazing because i ll not need to bring my tc helicon vocal fx unit, my crappy behringer mixer, and i ll be able to record multi channel at my gigs. The idea of having a seperate mix to my ears is also amazing. I also plan a live looping project with loopy pro with multiple inputs so this is suitable i guess. Even with my ableton live edm mixing with instrumentals project would not need an extra sound interface like my scarlet 18i8. How do you think about all of these different scenarios? Hopefully you answer so it ll be a big help to decide in short time because its kind of a discount these days in my country 😅

Tom, great video! Would you mind creating shorter videos exploring each and everyone of the Gigcaster 8 with step-by-step instructions? For those technically illiterate (like me) that would be a Godsend. The instructional/informational material provided by Boss/Roland about this true Boeing 747 that I bought and is parked in my studio (without the basic information on how to fly it) is shameful, to say the least. And... at 68 years old, I do not have the whole day to explore the equipment, play with trial and error, etc. I need to see how things are done, step by step, to be able to repeat the procedures. other then for music how does it compare with RodeCaster 2 pro or Mackie DLZ Creator for streaming and managing mic? Does it offer Automix or anything close to that? I can't find any comparaison at the moment.

You could probably use the virtual camera mode in OBS to send video to zoom and switch cameras in OBS using the Gigcaster and footswitch that way.

Not a silly question at all! It was plugged into my audio interface. I was recording my voice mic in one channel and the outputs from the Gigcaster 8 into another stereo input. I didn’t use the Gigcaster to record my voice since I wanted to demo all the features it has at the same time.
