Nouman Ali Khan explains about Quran 7th surah ayah 14-16
Here are the verses from the Quran, Surah Al-A'raf (Chapter 7), Verses 14-16:
*Verse 14:*
"قَالَ أَنظِرْنِي إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ يُبْعَثُونَ"
"(Iblis) said, 'Give me respite until the day they are resurrected.'"
*Verse 15:*
"قَالَ إِنَّكَ مِنَ الْمُنظَرِينَ"
"(Allah) said, 'Indeed, you are of those who are given respite.'"
*Verse 16:*
"قَالَ فَبِمَا أَغْوَيْتَنِي لَأَقْعُدَنَّ لَهُمْ صِرَاطَكَ الْمُسْتَقِيمَ"
"(Iblis) said, 'Because You have put me in error, I will surely sit in wait for them on Your straight path.'"
These verses describe a conversation between Iblis (Satan) and Allah. After being expelled from Heaven, Iblis asks for respite until the Day of Resurrection. Allah grants him this respite, and then Iblis vows to lead humans astray from the straight path.

I read somewhere that Satan wasn't cast out of heaven because of his disobedience to Allah alone. Disobedience was all along in his heart, Allah knew it very well. He wasn't devoted to Allah's path, he was devoted to his own glory and fame. It's like climbing the corporate ladder all the way to a CEO position because you love your job, rather because of u like the pay and the perks that come with it. It takes a whole new level of crookedness to become this type of CEO. Allah knew very well what's in Satan's heart behind the facade of all his worship rituals. So Allah raised to him great height, only to cast him off from a great height. It pains more in this way. Prostration to Adam was just an occasion Allah used to expose what's in Satan's heart all along.
