The violence comes from other people who moved to Sweden. who have war in their countries. and creates gangs, and gangs against gangs continue to fight in Sweden and kill each other. because their countries are at war with each other and then they continue here in Sweden. Their upbringing of children is not the best and no money, living on allowances etc. Sweden as a country is incredibly beautiful and we Swedes raise our children
@AjZ5307 ай бұрын
That's an insanely reductive take on the problem. Also it's not even correct in the slightest. You think the reason they are killing each other is becuse of nationalism?? Also to simply blame it on the individual is incredibly irresponsible, yes some people are animals, but take it from someone who has been in that environment, most people do it for 2 very simple reasons, money and status or because a family member dragged them into it. To simply say it is caused by immigrants who continue the war from their country in Sweden is not just a reductive way to look at it but also completely incorrect in the vast majority cases.

This is a huge controversial topic here in Sweden, but I'm going to stick out my neck here. We in Sweden have been too lenient with immigration. Upon arrival, we are very good at informing what rights they will have here, but we don't demand anything in return. They immediately get housing, clothes, and money and then can sit comfortly and wait for permission to stay, a decision that can take years. During witch time, we passify them, not allowing work or attending education if they are over 18. We don't even allowing/demanding them to attend classes for learning Swedish. However, if you are under 18, Swedish laws says you need to attend school. This creates a group of parents/elderly who depend on their children to break the language barrier. When a person has received permission to stay in Sweden, they get permission to attend SFI(Swedish for imigrants) and are expected to start job searching. This is people that now are used to staying home and receiving money without having to do anything. So why bother? Since Sweden has no restrictions in where to live, they can easily get on by without learning Swedish, wich is the first step into integration, by simply move into a neighbourhood that have a high concentration of countrymen, thus creating a secular society My husband, himself an immigrant, is really angry and was so frustrated with the system creating what he says is pure lazy people. He says that Sweden SHOULD demand that everybody in a family attend Swedish classes in order to get monthly pay from society. In that way, everyone will learn Swedish, and as soon they get permission to stay, they should have broken the language barrier and are alleged to be able to get a job. Having a job and understanding the language is crucial to integration. In my work as a dental nurse, I regularly meet people that have been living in Sweden for a decade but still haven't learned Swedish and we have to call for a translator.
@HenrikJansson787 ай бұрын
Very true. But I do think the "new" government is in the process of forcing people to learn swedish. I don't remember exactly but it was something like if they haven't learned swedish in 3(?) years, they will be automatically thrown out.

i don't understand why it's controversial. if there was no immigration from "problem" countries there would be no gang violence in sweden. looking for other explanations without starting with the one both sufficient and necessary (as we say in maths) condition that caused this gang violence problem is disingenuous at best.
@freddieholmez23503 ай бұрын
@@miafranlund6982 no the problem is that all we do is demand stuff. The integration is = Zero, Nada, none. To make integration work the people of the country needs to be there but we aint, during the last 15 years all people do is demand stuff because " I pay taxes, that is enough to help" .. no it aint, because we Swedish people might be the most introvert and hard headed people there is on the earth and we do Nothing to help more then the fact that we have our high taxes. @HenrikJansson787 ай бұрын
You can say it's sort of a perfect storm situation. A lot of different more or less small things that have come together at the same time has made this huge clusterF. And what you talked about strict child laws have actually contributed as you saw. They are all about protecting the children, because that is what have "always" been the most important. But when the gangs specifically recruits children to carry out crimes, that does not work any more.

Sweden's gang problem is huge right now. I've lived in Stockholm my whole life, and I've definitely seen and/or heard shootings/bombings. My older brother's childhood friend got coldly shot and murdered when he got mistaken for someone else. Another guy got shot in my neighborhood just for selling drugs. Shits crazy fr. As someone who has immigrant parents, I strongly blame the government causing these spiraling gang problems by having such open immigration policy.
@johankaewberg81627 ай бұрын
Gang-on-gang is the problem. 99.5% see nothing. However, I had a friend that got mixed up in the gangs, and he reported friends and family dropping about once every two months. Horrid. My old father happened to buy a house next to the Bandidos headquarters. He would be woken by regular drivebys by Hells Angels with automatic rifles. But these are quite small groups, and if you don’t associate with them the risk level is very low.
@mesannahhh7 ай бұрын
As someone reading at university right now to be a guidance counselor I would say that a big part of this problem is that our school system has failed since the beginning of 2010. This has led to a huge amount of children that dont even graduate elementary school wich makes them very vulnerable to be recruited into crimes.
@Perisa797 ай бұрын
No no no... There is one and ONLY ONE reason why a person choose to be a criminal, and that is because of bad parenting.. in 99.99% of the cases. I had a shitty school all through from class 1-9. I took the bus through Malmö this New Year and saw several groups of boys shooting rockets into apartments and against people. I've also had explosions in apartments close to me. Thankfully Malmö has become really safe compared to some years ago, but the segregation and the core problems with immigrant integration into society has not been fixed. I pray for a better future where foreigners are properly integrate into society and are not prone to the systematic racism and racism that exists now.

17:04 False. This is not the reason as Sweden still has one of the lowest reoffending rates in the world. 17:04 No. Most swedish gang members have grew up constantly being mistreated by corrupt police which Sweden has a huge problem with. And "ignoring the victims" is just not true lmao, other than the fact that the new right wing government is cutting down funds to hospitals. 17:21 Also untrue. Swedish police were already allowed to tap criminals phones. The new law is that police can now tap anyones phone without suspision of crime which is an extremely corrupt law. 17:29 In Sweden, more police in one area is not corelated with a decrease in crime, at all. First off, they need to fix the problem with our police. Since the early 2000s every single criteria in the police tests has been lowered and crimes within the police force is at an all time high, amongst the highest in Europe.

Sweden has no problem with gangs or violence when compared to the US and many other countries. We have a problem compared to Sweden that we had 50 years ago, not compared to most of the world. That said, it needs to be dealt with. We shouldn't have these problems in a country where every citizen gets a Monthly income.

One should take what Police and Da:s says with a huge grain of salt. Their incompetence (not the rank and file, they do good work) is one of the main reason it is like it is and they ARE covering their own backs. They also have skin in the funding game, to claim that there's 13 000 gang members in Sweden is ridiculous. I've done a lot of work with the Swedish police over the years in another form of organized crime (Football hooliganism, where I've seen similar insanly inflated claims from police leadership for PR reasons) and have a great deal of respect for the rank and file officers, but genuinly despise the police leadership. And I know that sentiment is prevailant in the force as well.

Great reaction to a sad reality in my country... I've heard bombs from my apartment and watched cars burning on the parking lot outside. I've been followed and harrassed many times by groups of men (mainly afghans, middle easterners and north africans). My sister is a social worker and her workplace has received bomb threats and she has been physically attacked at work. Despite this (and more), most days are still "normal" but the general "atmosphere" is more threatening than in the past. Some comparisons (entirely subjective): Asia east of India is much safer. Latin America is generally less safe with some exceptions like Cuba or Costa Rica. Surprisingly to some I felt safer in some places in Africa like Uganda or Zanzibar. Compared to the US I would say it depends. For example Manhattan felt safer but the Bronx not so much. As to why all this gang violence, here are some of my thoughts... Some of these young (often immigrant) men might feel like outsiders with no place in society (unless they join a gang) while others simply are drawn to the quick money and gangster lifestyle (it's very popular among the youth). They might feel like outsiders because they live in their own parallel societies with mostly immigrants and many of them don't have a job (they live on welfare), or even know the language. When it comes to the children specifically I think it's also the added pressure from older kids or adults to get involved, and it's probably hard to say no to someone older they respect and look up to. Last but not least, punishment for even serious crime is very low so that's not really a deterrent. And even if they go to prison (called "criminal care"), it wouldn't be that bad because it's common knowledge that prisoners (called "clients") have it better than other groups in society anyway (like old people, especially those in care homes).

Hm, well gang violence is a problem in Sweden. The biggest problem is that lawmakers can’t agree on how to tackel the issue. More cops and harder punishments does not work. All parts of the system needs to pull together all resources and fight the problem. And they are not doing this. From what I read USA had this problem and many cities did just this, everyone pulled together everything they knew and attacked the gang problem head on.
