@thecsciworker2915 ай бұрын
This has been a problem for decades, because it is a technical mishap. Otherwise everyone would be slipping if they fouled. It's due to the way he made contact with the board. You probably cant pick it up, but it's due to his heel making contact first, when trying to plant flat footed. Jump spikes, although they have a jagged sole, has had that sole being made with hard plastic instead of rubber for a little over a decade now (this is why it's advised not to jump in sprint spikes, because it's worse for them especially with no intentional gripping). When that spike makes contact with wood, if not done right, can lead to this. Like I pointed out earlier, it's been decades jumpers have had this problem because it's a technical problem. The material after the board has also always been...'movable' as well. It's called plasticine. A clay that allows for the spikes to make a visual indentation if there is a foul. It's not meant to have grip, which is why a small amount is used along facing edge. In fact, the material after the board is more irrelevant as it's just high contrast for camera's now, which detect the foul.

@@michaelmayers3622 haha the comments are really funny now
@thecsciworker2913 ай бұрын
@@michaelmayers3622 Yep, it's the cause for rotation too. What happens is, your foot slides, then once it grabs, your leg sticks and essentials catapults you forward. Like Pole Vault. It happens VERY fast. If you use hitch kick, you can maybe survive the rotation if you fight it hard enough. If you use sail technique, you're likely to eat dirt (like Fabrice Lapierre in 2009 finals, first jump). The jumper here, he uses hitch normally, but he didn't engage it here soon enough, so he had no chance.
