The world's largest cruise ship, "the Symphony of the Seas". Inside overview: how they work, how the world's largest ship engines are assembled for an ocean liner, and how these engines work, how many sheets need to be ironed and how many dishes to wash in one day of the cruise, who needs on board tons of ice, does it all harm the environment, why is there a 19th century telephone on an ultra-modern ship. And will there be enough lifeboats for the liner?

You mention Filipinos in Part 1 and Part 2. The Philippines has a strong maritime heritage, so many islanders are still drawn to a seafaring life. In addition, Filipinos speak English (the official language of the Philippines) and are renowned for providing service with a smile -- two skills important when working with cruise passengers. Thank you Science...

At the end of part 2 you said "they are well paid for it" talking about the crew in the depths of the ship. Obviously you have no clue what ship personnel are paid.

Narrator, it's not a liner, it's a cruise ship. Huge difference.

"lathe" pronounced leyth. The narrator had me convinced he had a well rounded general knowledge until he pronounced lathe as "lath". I mean, they are kind of a big deal.. lol

The most impressing thing to me is 200t propeller. And the ship got 3 of of them. Every propeller weights as much as a locomotive 😐 🤯

These cruise ships do NOT have clean exhaust. I spent decades working in a port town and you could always tell when a cruise ship had docked because a black smokey pall would spread over the town. The super tankers that used the same port (1,000' plus) were WAY larger than most of the cruise ships but actually had mostly clean exhaust. Plus, the cruise ships decided it was cheaper to dump their trash over board and pay the fine if caught than to haul it to the next port and pay to have it properly disposed of at a land fill or recycling center. Almost every week all summer long the local paper listed cruise ships fined for dumping trash in the local police/ CG blotter.

It might be an ignorant question but out of curiosity. There is 18 life boats with a max of 370 people each = 6,660 people in total. According to Wikipedia, the max of the ship is 8,880. What happens with the 2,220 remaining? Does the inflatable and rescue boats fit these people?

Yeah, google is a lie, to me, it said that the max capacity was 9,500. they are just making up numbers i think. edit: Royal Caribbean themselves says there are enough lifeboats for more than everyone on board.

there are inflatable rafts to to make sure people can actually evacuate and the life boats are built for multiple trips so they can ferry passengers off the ship and on to shore it its applicable

I assure you dude, the red whine storage room is not the most secure room on the ship. The vault, casino money rooms are far more secure. Please stop spreading false information.

The narration is just SO BIZARRE…it’s very obvious someone is reading a not-too-accurately translated -into-English transcript of what I’m guessing was originally in Russian, judging from the burly bearded guy who is the on-screen host occasionally, and who by rudimentary lip reading seems to be speaking Russian
