It's so obvious that you know EVERYTHING about what you're doing, just like your dad. I like watching your teardowns a little bit more for the reasons previously mentioned. You take it much slower. No offense to Richard, but because he's done this a million times, he rushes through the process. Just try to forget that we're watching you and your nervousness will disappear. You're fantastic, like your dad with a very entertaining difference. Rock on!

I use the smart shell on all builds sure is a little more pricey @ 85.00 VS the cheap China ones like in the video @ 13.00 ea from TS but WELL worth it to the customer and you get what ya pay for. Load springs yea toss in trash if a stock stack otherwise is good to use new ones but have to get special long ones when running the Alto Powerpacks or the Raybestos Z pack's. I only put in 3 of the 5 in a triangle pattern and it helps with the parasitic drag on the tighter tolerance stack up's. And yes watching him pry on that servo cover I was like ...... don't break the case homie..... been there done that back in the 80's

Sounds like my issue back in the 80’s. The other shop would tell people he would rebuild the transmission for $175. When really all he did was replace a band , 1 clutch set and filter. Washed out with gasoline. At that time I charged an average $700 for R&R , parts and labor. Had to explain every time why I charged what I did.

Richard/Cody you are both very knowledgeable and I enjoy watching your videos even though we use manual shifts in the UK but automatics are starting to get more popular in the more upmarket cars such as BMW, Mercedes and Lexus models. However, I am not always familiar with some of the terminology you use and sometimes you don't explain what affects the modifications you carry out have on the final performance of the transition which I am very interested to know as an engineer for example when you say you are going to pack out the servos....by how much and what will be the final outcome. If you have covered these points in a previous video then by all means point me to it. Finally, have you done any automatic transmissions from BMW, Mercedes and Lexus. Great work and all the best from the UK (Britain)

Good job Trent! Explained more of the basics for us less knowledgeable about transmission inner workings. To me rebuilt is not as good as remanufactured. Rebuilt you only replace what is worn. Reman you replace all wear items. Rebuilt usually means you’ll get excessive and faster than normal wear because, a lot of things get only eyeballed and if it ain’t broke, you don’t replace it. When a reman is done right, it’s the same or better than the original because it gets all the updates in addition to all new wear items.

@@Bryan-Hensley Get with the program Hoss. Follow along or go away. I am a stickler for accuracy. Trying to correct falsehoods does not make me a "bully". What's wrong with you. For a couple years now, Richard has insisted on calling the rear roller clutch on a 4L60 a "sprag" when it is NOT. It is a ROLLER CLUTCH. NOT a sprag. Despite gentle reminders, the next time ANOTHER 4L60 video comes out, you can be sure once again he is going to refer to it as a sprag. A sprag by definition is a "figure eight" style one way clutch. A roller clutch, by definition is a "ramp and roller" style one way clutch. There is a difference but it is totally ignored. Do some research! It is there to be found. There are so many of you on here that think Richard is the second coming of Christ. He does have a lot of experience but that does not make him God like so many here believe. He makes other errors but to point them out would not result in people learning but rather result in a deluge of BS from disciples defending their messiah.
