I appreciate your analyses because you're able to back up your thoughts and explain them in detail. I have no issues with people not agreeing with the direction ONE OK ROCK is going, as long as they are able to provide constructive feedback, and I think that's the problem with your first reaction to them. I know we already had a long discussion about it in the comments there, but it really just sounded like you guys were trying hard to poke fun at the band for laughs, and that just made you guys sound rude. ANYway, I agree with what you said about using the term "sell out." Even though their newer songs are more pop and aren't as loud as their older stuff which you seem to enjoy more, I think you would appreciate their live arrangements for those songs. They always mix it up, adding in extra instrumentals or riffs, and the instruments definitely stand out more when the songs are performed live. I went to Japan earlier this month to see them on their Japan Tour and they did not disappoint. I had already heard a number of the new songs live during their North American tour, but the other songs from their latest album that they didn't play in North America... Oh man, so good. What I always say about ONE OK ROCK's music is that their CD and concerts complete the package. The CD is fine as a standalone, but only once you've heard the songs live do you get to fully experience the album as a complete work. But back to your reaction, good news for you is that Taka has expressed that they might go back to their rock roots with their next album. We'll see! And if you wanna check out covers, you should keep your eye on the group Goose house. They have their own solo stuff but their KZbin channel has a lot of covers. Here's their cover of KK Dreamer: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a4TRpX9_er6HiZY It's a different take on the song, not just a straight cover. Note that the group is actually like 6 people. What's cool is that they all sing.

It's an okay song. There is some good stuff in there but honestly, I don't really care for it. Don't mind the English singing as his pronunciation is pretty good.
