People should ask him "What is the meaning of the lyrics for you? What inspired you to write this song?" Because Taka always just tell us the stories of the "behind-the-scenes" or the recording process.. but he also should share what he meant by those beautiful lyrics.. was it based from personal experiences? based from other people's experiences, etc.

It sounds like they were all trying to change the band's sound into a typical american rock/pop band, and taka went along with it because he thought 'oh these are americans telling us how to make it in america'..when really all they needed was more exposure in the US, because the music they were making before is still highly sought after here and is much more unique and rare. I hate that they felt they needed features and a pop sound to make it in america :(
@Professorbubblegum7 жыл бұрын
OfficialRelyseMusic by pop, do u mean something that had a lot of melody and that was easy and fun to listen to so it could reach a wider and younger audience? Cause that's exactly what it takes for a song to go mainstream and become adopted by a huge amount of people cross culturally, not just in America. That and/or relatablility. John Feldman understands how to make popular music, and just because it's popular doesn't mean it's not rock. Also oor had a good sound, but their sound was never unique.
@LENthanum6 жыл бұрын
In one of their interviews, he did say that they're exploring other genres. Since they're making it big in America and worldwide. But eventually, when all is good, they would still go back to their own style.

Man.. I feel like "they" trying to force this band to change their style based on wht Taka said here.. Even Taka didn't want to change and have a "pop song" in their music but they just have to try.. Its not the bad things tho but sometime don't let people decide on wht you're gonna do especially when "american" trying to involve in some band.. Cuz based on what happen before, american music kinda "dead" inside, they didn't have that "unique" style in some kind of music (no offense).
@soranonsese62737 жыл бұрын
you didnt had to say no offence coz what you are saying completely right. American songs have no uniqueness and therefore new OOR songs too...
@tylerjames71727 жыл бұрын
Snow Freezer I kind of agree with what you're saying. But I think that with the Ambitions album they have now found a perfect mix of the American sound and their own unique sound :) plus they hang out with more unique American bands now like twenty one pilots and panic! At the Disco rather than typical American bands, so I would say that they've combined their original music with more unique American music to make a new, personal sound :)
@courtneyh.86277 жыл бұрын
Yea, I'm a HUGE fan of J-rock widely because most (if not all) of the bands are all unique. HEY-SMITH sounds different from Coldrain and Coldrain sounds different from Crystal Lake, and Crystal Lake sounds different from Crossfaith, and so on. I think in some ways they took away their Japanese sound (generally harder rock) and made it more American (pop-like). It's turned me away from One Ok Rock. Now I can't really listen to them, I like My First Story better. I just really really hope other Japanese bands learn from this and avoid changing their sound unless it's THEIR decision.

Taka, if you did't like it, just say no. Just because u want to make advancement to US, does One Ok Rock have to be Pop??...Just be Taka, be One Ok Rock, Just be comfortable, we'll enjoy it more...
@johnkoch93157 жыл бұрын
I think One Ok Rock's music in all eras had a very genuine quality about it that attracted me to them. But it seems like we're gonna just have to count on that side of them to come from only the music from here on. Why? Because I remember an interview from when they were touring with Sleeping With Sirens where Taka said Paper Planes was his favorite song to perform live. Fuck's sake man, not only is it like "Oh, who are you today?" but it shows to some extent he's already been media trained within an inch of his life to say what he thinks is the "right" answer. I think even the shit American bands would be a little bit better if they weren't trying to cater to this sad current incarnation of the American press. That or they just wouldn't exist.
@rushazila42767 жыл бұрын
ros neri me too felt the same...its hard for me to digest their new album...dun no y??😢😢😢😢
@miksik3177 жыл бұрын
John Koch or maybe he really liked performing with kellin, his friend? Plus (especially this song), when some of the more electronic songs are converted to live, they become something completely different. Idk if you've seen the 2015 saitama performance but they perform that and it's super cool. It's funny that no one considers he MAYBE, just MAYBE might like the songs he and his own band put out.
@johnkoch93157 жыл бұрын
Mikey Sikovsek okay, that's all fine, but doesn't this video give you the impression that he doesn't like the song that much, at least as much as most of the others? This is straight from Taka himself.
@miksik3177 жыл бұрын
John Koch It gives me the impression that maybe he didnt like it at first, but somewhere along the way he decided "you know what sometimes you just have to try something new" and I'm sure once they started getting it ready to be performed live, he started to like it even more.

I wish OOR only did one version of an album rather than have one for Japan and one in English. I always like the Japanese one better because it sounds more of something The band likes and is comfortable with. The music videos for the English versions are always odd compared to the Japanese ones.
