this is BEAUTIFUL! imagine pulling this with a bicycle that has a small 4 stroke mounted in the frame! bicycle motor kits start at $200, they just bolt on, or you can build your own, with the right gear! Id like to make a similar set-up! maybe with a small heater or wood camp stove, i live in minnesota, haha! Thanks for the video!

This is a real rarity, a travel cabin in which one can stand up straight! You have made a really nice job of this, the top being light enough to manually raise and the PVC pipes keeping it securely raised. I particularly liked the fixed worktop and sink with tap, and keeping the interior open for living or sleep mode was also a great touch as it maximises the space for whichever activity is taking place at any time. The ability to have a full strip wash and to use one's own toilet in privacy is important and your design allows for that. There are some community homeless shelters making full standing Coroplast travel cabins, but none are as well thought out as yours. Thank you for sharing your excellent design, and in doing so you have greatly added to the Make Your Own Gear (MYOG) knowledge base for a mobile travel cabin/bicycle camper. I would consider making one in three sections in order to make the towing module more compact, streamlined and less susceptible to cross winds. For camping in wind conditions I would remove the quick release wheels and sit the unit directly on the ground, which would hugely increase stability.

my wife is currently in the middle of actually making one of these for us to live off grid until an affordable stable home is opportune for us. we had slept on trains, and house hopped and plus my wife use to live in a single woman shelter that sucked, I had also made sacrifices twice #1 I went into the single men shelter after me finished doing some hard time in prison, #2 we moved to Yonkers Westchester NY i and I definitely refuse to go to/through any shelter proceeding process and being separated from my again after all we have gone through this two years we have been together I will do anything in this world for her and she knows it, that's why she loves me and won't stop doing what she's doing for me! I appreciate my wife for putting up with me through our homelessness and taking great care of me; one day my wife had brought this idea of her to my attention I have to admit that this is a great idea and now we are on the journey to transition to live in one of these bike campers and take back our independence again. I thank god for allowing her to be in my life, I never wanted or needed anything and now we won't be unsheltered or having to worry about being put out on the streets with no where to go.

Great idea , I have been looking forward to building something like that for myself . All it needs is a few aerodynamic changes and a little common sense knowledge of the gears on the ol' bike to make it a ride & not a fight . I can tell that it is pretty light also, about as heavy as towing a full shopping cart behind the bike. Keep up the good work.

I am getting ready to build one for myself and my fiancé, I like the design structure and it is great. Right now I have four metal poles, and one whole bed spring including three light metal poles to start the foundation of our future bicycle camper trailer. It's hard to find currogatedcoroplast in NYC, so can I just stick with only plywood and light metal ? I want metal base for my flooring, I need some help before I mess up my project.

The material is Coroplast, which is corrugated plastic sheeting. Coroplast is manufactured in various thicknesses, though most use the 4mm thick material to build campers. There are numerous videos on building such campers, but very few of them are designed with full standing height.

I see several disadvantages and advantages. It must be a terrible biking experience to bike against the wind. On the other hand, if the wind is at your back it acts as a sail and pushes you along. Terrible in the winter and great in the summer. You know you can have a bed in there without wasting the space of a bed. Solution: Hammock works inside and outside. You know you can have power for electrical stuff in there. Solution: Roll up Solar Panels on roof. Use two 6 volt battery's and flashlight bulbs for lights. Cooking : A good Freznal Lenz pointed at an iron plate you put your pot on will do the job for cooking/boiling/frying your food. Looks like you have enough room to pack a plastic chair and put Some gear in that shack. I suppose you will need a live bait trap to catch your food. Peanut butter works great and so does carrots. A good fishing pole with minimal tackle should help you for food and is fun too. For those long bike tours you can weld a pole on your bike and make a small wind sail that can be adjusted. FOR WATER just get one of those water bottles that filter pond water to drinkable water. The push down on kind. Fits neatly on your bike. BATHING: A good plastic pan and a washcloth with a bar of soap. WHERE TO GO: By law you can stay in parks but you have only 3 days and have to move to another location in the park or another park. Rest stops a couple of days by law. Wall marts let you stay for a week or more only if you are gone in the day time hours. A friends back yard. Some churches will let you stay for ONLY 1 day tucked away in the back and NOT on Events. Un marked land is only OK until you get kicked off of, may be a bit confronting issues. Learn to hide in the bush. Parking Lots depends on the owners discretion. Wildlife refuge area's has a 3 day limit by law only in designated area's. IN THE DESERT no one cares what you do or where you stay. Lots of unclaimed desert land to stay a long while residence. BY LAW squatters rights. The only one you can hurt is yourself. Ideal conditions for this kind of living is in the very south like Louisiana, Nevada, Texas, Florida, South Mississippi and parts of California. These area's are best for hunting animals bore pigs, alligators and carp that are considered a troublesome to the environment to name a few. You can hunt fish these things down there without a license and some with a license. Free food, if you can catch it.

pudge Hey i appreciate your input!! what do you think about a small tent-style wood stove for heat and cooking.., they are cheap and really small, made for hot tents/tipis, and come with chineys... i live in minnesota, and want to move to northern MN. as for aero dynamics.. the front end could easily be modified with more coloplast, to make a mlor aero dynamic nose... as for the bicycle... i am looking to use a motorized bicycle, with a 4 stroke engine... i may buy a kit online for $200-$400 but i will probably build a kit myself.. pretty simple... 100+MPG... no worries about fighting the weight or wind or hills... i would have good brakes though... beyond that, i love this design, parking is an issue, but you can go stealth with this pretty easy... in national forests, you can dispersed camp for 2 weeks in one spot, then legally you must move to another spot at least 1 mile away or something.. but often times, depending where you stay, no one tells you to move, and when they do, its no problem... i plan to go to superior national forest, for a few weeks. i would love to at least.. friends houses, walmart, etc, can probably go on a neighborhood street for 1 night... hey thanks for your earlier input and would like to brainstorm a bit more!

Your construction is superb, but on a social stand-point... 1.) I think I'd want something that isn't going to topple when making a sharp turn or at a gust of wind over 10 mph. 2.) When I pull over to go to bed, I want something that won't require me to carry a gun. 3.) When you take a dump, do it in a container that seals it's odor. Animals will pick up on it in a heartbeat. Or pop-a-squat at least 10 ft. from your dwelling and bury it at least 2 ft. deep. 4.) Beware of hills! ...going up AND coming down. 5.) Depending on where your riding, other passing motorists will share their extensive language skills, especially those pertaining to the use of profanity & vulgarities. Not-to-mention it will enhance their aim when it comes to empty and full beer bottles, as well as anything else they may have readily available. ...I-myself have had a motorist throw a 15" wrench at me and I wasn't traveling with something that made them think: "Oh look a broad-side of a barn".
