I always liked The Joker. Watching Ceaser Romero on re-runs of the 60's show. When I was 13 years old the 1989 "Batman" film came out. When I heard Jack Nicholsen say...."as you can see, I'm a lot happier" (cue music and maniacal laughter) I became a Mega-Fan!! This lead me to reading "The Killing Joke", "Arkham Asylum", "The Dark Knight Returns" and any other comics and graphic novels I could get my hands on! The "True" Joker is tall, thin, gaunt faced, Impossibly toothy grin, ruthless, unpredictable, murderous and terrifying!! You're right, while each and every Joker actor has brought something new and unique and wonderful to the role the "True" Joker has never been portrayed. Too scary? People love to be terrified...I think if they ever get it exactly right...people will turn out in droves! But yes, Batman must be present! The Joker is never fully realized with Batman! Never can be, not the "True" Joker. We just have to keep hoping that movie gets made in our lifetime. Until then, thankfully we have years worth of comics to enjoy. Great video! Would love to see more of these discussons.

Typo correction..."The Joker cannot every be fully realized WITHOUT Batman!!!"

My favorite rendition of the Joker was The Killing Joke and Arkham Asylum. Those two stories really exemplify the Joker and just how scary and twisted he is. I never understood the Arthur Fleck reimagining because he’s not the real Joker just some other guy in clown makeup. Heath was probably the closest live action. Jack was good but he played it more like a gangster. Hamill was amazing in the animated series.

Brian Bolland's joker is terrifying. How he should be. The killing joke defined him perfectly along w the animated series. In exorcist 3 there was a scene w jokers head.

Thanks so much! I had forgotten this one. I spent a lot of time trying to get his eyes to look just right. At this scale, they were SMALL! lol! He is of course based on the Three Jokers art by Jason Fabok. I was so smitten with it when I found the comics (ages after they had come out), and loved how they brought out the Killing Joke look, while being, really, even better. Fabok is awesome, and I had to have ONE Joker at least that looked right. Thanks for the kind words.

Besides the killing joke, what are your top 5 joker stories?
@LesWalker20232 ай бұрын
Three Jokers is immediately after Killing Joke, then probably Arkham Asylum with it's wicked visuals, then The Laughing Fish is the story I got back into Batman comics with in the 80's, as illustrated by Marshall Rogers, the first appearance of Joker in 1940 issue #1 of Batman comics is a great one, old, but timely, then tied with last might be, Man Who laughs which is an updated version of the 40 origin. I like my Jokers pure and simple. And old school! Great question! MORE! Love it! What would your top 5 be?

There's more than one joker!

This is true! Now. Good call. (I still prefer the old, original 1940 one, but I get your point!)

Brian Bolland's joker is the most terrifying joker....that needs to be on film.
