I wish I had kept this figure. I sold it for cash years ago, when times were bad, and I very much regret it. However, what I learned from the AD photos, I still remember. One day, I may try to go this again. Not on this scale, but close. I repainted my NECA figure also and it is in a more recent video of almost all the movie Xenomorphs that I have repainted. Go see! And thanks again! Les

Les, you were right, this is your best skin yet. Lawd, she is a beauty! It has been great to...not compete, we weren't competing...but each painted our own in secret without seeing each others to see how differently we would handle her. Brilliantly done! SOOOO different than mine! Yours is infinitely prettier than mine. I love it. It is going to be fun to reveal them at the meeting on Saturday And I greatly appreciate the wonderful shout-out to Gail and me and our store. It is more than a store, but a labor of love. Thanks again my friend!

Greg, your's was wicked, and I am sorry I saw it before you saw mine, but then again, like you said, we were NOT competing! Nor do I in general. I hate that. But I do love INSPIRATION, and you and your works do inspire me, because your style is so different! Your's could kick Conan's butt! lol! She is TOUGH! But still cool! And different! And yes, I was going for gorgeous, which I like, so yeah. But, I was actually inspired by someone real from my way back past, as well, as trying to use tools I have only recently honed. This is the culmination of a lot of works, and she is a favorite because of that. Thanks again, and you rock, my brother!

I want to paint the black cowl, gauntlets and boots on Batman to match the suit like the 6-pack version. What color paint would you recommend? Maybe Vallejo Blue Gunmetal?
@LesWalker2023
@LesWalker2023 Күн бұрын
No! Lose the terrible and inaccurate plastic colors! Heat and take him apart, paint all armor and body with Vallejo "Oily Steel" and darken the skin of the face a bit, The BELT IS GOOD! Leave it alone. Get him a nice, pleather wired cape, spray all the repainted parts with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear Matt spray, let dry, gloss coat the belt, knees, elbows, arm blades and eyes, and put him back together! VOILA! He will not only better match your repainted Robin, he will look like he did in the movie! It was the lighting that made him look bluish! He was a solid, overall graphite color. The clear matt coat will not kill the sheen of the metallic repaint, it will enhance it! Trust me! Spray Robin too! You'll see! De-Toys them immediately!
@decadentdave
@decadentdave Күн бұрын
@@LesWalker2023 actually looking at the movie and photos of the costume prop the Sonar Suit is actually a dark gunmetal gray. Oily Steel is much too shiny silver like Leadbelcher. Needs to be darker like Rubber Black only metallic. Maybe mixing Rubber Black with Metal Medium would work. EDIT: I remember now that Metal Medium is exactly the same as Pearl White and mixing it with colors actually lightens the base color several shades so I am thinking Folkart Metallic Charcoal Black would be a perfect match and still be metallic.
@LesWalker2023
@LesWalker2023 Күн бұрын
@@decadentdave Depends on the light. That's why I'd spray it with a matt coat. Kills the shiny and makes it more dark toned like the movie. Note mine in the video. It is brightly lit, but in lower light, it looks pretty dark. Just saying. But, if you do mix with a flat black, it will tone it down also. I just stand by the Oily Steel shade. Some repros, especially the Hot Toys figure of Batman are way too dark and glossy. And why HT and McF makes the gloves boots and cowl darker, is beyond me. Ever since I first saw the movie in 1995, it was all one shade of graphite.
@LesWalker2023
@LesWalker2023 Күн бұрын
JUST went online and had to really search for some unfiltered images, and found four that all are from different sources, and when taken in, the Sonar suit is A. Lighter than it looks in many photos and images, B. has less color, and again, is more a graphite shade, but not a dark one, and C. wavers between shiny (probably polished or oiled for photos) and a more matte with a soft sheen look. So, I know I have not missed this one. See the video of my custom made 1/6 Sonar suit, and my video of the McFarlane figure repainted. Both, painted apart, look the same colorwise. Same shades, same finish painted nearly a year or more apart. Trust me. If I could share the pics I have, you could see it at a glance. However it comes out, best of luck to you on it!

This is absolutely stunning! One of your best pieces ever! She is the embodiment of feminine power, beauty and barbaric grace, all at the same time. It's hard to take one's eyes off of her. She seems as though she could have leaped right out of a Frazetta or Vallejo piece. Also honoring the work of her creator the great female comic writer Carole Seuling. I would think she would be very proud to see your work on this. The amazing sculpture of Yan H placed in your talented hands is truly incredible to behold! I don’t have the 6 pack one I have the Batmobile version. I replaced the cape with the GPslot wired pleather cape. The Batsymbol is gold. I want to repaint it yellow but should I base coat it white first so the yellow hue comes out correctly or can I just paint the yellow over the gold?
@LesWalker2023
@LesWalker2023 3 күн бұрын
I would at least paint the white in. And when you do the yellow, if using Vallejo acrylic colors, mix deep yellow with a small bit, a drop or two depending on how much you mix, of Wood Grain brown. It needs that to make the golden yellow hue you are looking for. Then, paint that in over the white, in at least two coats so it's rich. Thin coats. Not thick and gloppy. When totally dried, TAKE YOUR TIME, and rim the black back in on the bat and outer rim. When that is dried, coat it with a clear glosscoat like Intermediate Gauzy or at least a nice clear gloss varnish. But thin! You can always layer. Let me know how it goes.

Excellent build - the best I've seen, so far. I love the attention to detail on the mechanical sharks' rough hide. Rewatched the 4k recently, and discovered another gem (hiding in plain sight): the side view shot of the mechanical shark, snapping away at Quint's legs, reveals some damage to the shark's gill slits (bleeding). Perhaps the shark stabbed itself on the broken planking, after destroying the ORCA's stern, injuring itself?

I actually came across this video by accident I wasn't looking for it. I did see the first part liked and subscribed but haven't watched yet. But I did watch this final built model. The paint work is just fine and the look is just like the real Bruce. The face is exactly as I remember those eyes as it pops it's head out of the water. That's a great model you have there. I'm in Australia so I'm not sure because I'd like to know where I would look or search for this to buy. I also have in mind to scratch build the shark but of course not that animatronic version. I couldn't make those parts. That's in the case I can't afford to buy it especially I can only buy from eBay and overseas will cost me a lot in exchange rates and custom charges. I know of Jaws since 1975 I was 8 years old as I watched Bruce scare the living daylights out of me on the big screen. I was taken by my sisters although the only thing I can't remember is if I knew what I was up for. I can remember that like it was last week. It's the best of Steven Spielberg. The Shark that was uncooperative at times to the Shark is working. It's a classic. Your right that Shark did a great job than those CGI versions. Yes they are ok but Bruce was magic back in the day. I'm happy that he was salvaged from some dump sight and restored for all to see. So well done on a fantastic mechanical miniature version. I just remembered I do have a model of a shark and dive cage with a diver with camera by Pegasus models. I haven't built it yet I'm trying to work out how I'm going to set it up as to make it look like suspended under water. This is a Trickey model. I'm not a professional modeller just amateur. So Wonderful model build the colours are exceptional. I'd like to know what greys you used although there's so many grey colours. Excellent work.👍🇭🇲🦘🐨✌️

I know he would want you to have one if you can get it. Tell him Les sent you and maybe get through. Best of luck, and enjoy it if you do get it! I will comment later on the colors I used once you get one. No point in all that now. (BTW, I did not ever use white paint as a color though! I used "White-Grey" by Vallejo for the lightest color and "Ivory" for the teeth. I think I used "Red-Black" thinned down as a wash for the gummy parts. But, no use of actual WHITE on the entire model!)

Thanks. Well, yes and no. I use the sculpted hair as a guide and use Fabric Tac glue and just sort of glue the added bits right on and smooth them in with what is sculpted. I don't root. Don't know how. But, I am pretty good at adding hair where it looks like it belongs. This one was technically easy, just needed the correct base mohair color to make it work. I think I got this batch from a Russian vendor on Ebay. Once in hand, I use reference shots from the movie and just go to it. Very right brain. Then I paint in where I need it to blend. (with Hobby Acrylics). I did have to repaint this one's face as the colors were awful. The Mars one looks to be a much better color set. Share that with me when you get it done! Would love to see it!

Prototype figures? Hmmmm..... I hope they, HT, Mars, whoever, gets to these OBVIOUS holes in collections, such as a classy Mr Freeze, Ivy, BATGIRL...ahem! And others. B&R may be a setback movie for many, and it was back then, but now, in context, way after the Nolan era, and even after The Batman...B&R is a huge movie, with a huge budget, and a huge visual presence. It is operatic and was, then, ahead of it's time. It was never a great movie, and I wouldn't ever say that. It was indulgent. But does every movie have to be GREAT? No. Just entertain me! At least some of the time. And, add to that, I am a BATMAN FAN. Which means, if they make a Batman movie, I will see it. Good, bad or indifferent. I will decide whether I like it or not. Fans don't decide that for me. I can appreciate the work in a movie, and scenes, and concepts, without embracing it like it is the Second Coming. I miss when movies took chances and tried to entertain me with ideas and visuals. When I see that Barbara Ling designed production on a movie, any movie, like "A Man Called Otto" for instance, I always take note. She has talent. Along with Schumacher, she designed much of Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. She did not waste my viewing time. And by the way, thanks for the kind words!

These figures, along with the movie 6 pack? A huge huge HUGE nostalgia hit for me. See, when I was a kid, we had figures, sure.. but not much articulation, and those weird hard rubber capes. Kinda sucks, that McFarlane went with those style capes, instead of cloth capes. I'm sure you can easily get some fabric, and do custom jobs? But the fact is, we shouldn't have to do the work for the companies who should've just done it in the first place. These figures are the ones I dreamed of as a kid, they're exactly what I wanted. But could never get. Because obviously stuff like this didn't entirely exist back then. I'm also somewhat contradicting myself though, because alot of Marvel figures, were doing the whole "super poseable" thing already. So why some companies were so far behind? I don't know.
@LesWalker2023
@LesWalker2023 21 күн бұрын
Total agreement. However, have you noticed how McF is doing wired cloth capes now? They are watching. I have several re-caped figure videos and they all show mostly, what I did, which was simple. So, McF is now (trying to) doing it too. They have to. It's Toy Evolution, and that has to happen or customers will back off and not buy. McF, ie., "cheaper figure companies" will get there. We shouldn't have to pay $90 or more for a 6 to 7 inch figure with a wired cape, cloth, leather, whatever. $25 figures can have that. And, I enjoy the nostalgia too. Good to read some fun comments. Thanks so much for sharing!

I've seen others that have come close, or are more of an idealized version of "Bruce", but this is the most screen-accurate I've seen, and the color and paint job is amazing! One quibble is that the protruding bottom gum looks a little too "meaty" or pronounced to my eye.

I agree to a point. I too almost wanted to trim down the lower "chin" a bit, but then I saw a clip from the movie and one of the Bruces did have a slightly pronounced chin. So, I left it. It does work better when it is more open, as the kit came, and you don't notice it as much. But, since I closed the mouth just a bit from the kit, I guess that stands out. Still, thanks so much for the kind words and I appreciate the accuracy comment a bunch. Thanks!

Excellent work Les! FYI, I am going to reprint the MG34 and turret mount. Shoot me the length of the supplied gun and I will match it. Thanks for the SRM shout out!

Thanks Greg! You rock! Too late, guns are in the hull! But I think they were just at 8cm.

Got the kit in a corner of my hobbyroom since a couple of years. Havent had the right energy to start building it yet. Maybe it will happen some day. Great to see that someone did it! 🙂

It does take some major time, and patience. Just today I spent ALL DAY just on the two hatches on front top, the driver and mgunner and that took a while, since I want to make the upper panel removable. And other parts. I so want to just glue this hull together and get to the FUN stuff! The turret! I will soon. Anyway, it is fun. I recommend it totally! Once you start, you can't stop! lol!

I have to say this is really amazing work, you've sure hit the colouring spot on, the Königstiger was impressive, will be looking forward to see the end result. Greetings from Copenhagen.

Wow! So honored by your kind words! As someone there in Europe, you may have a totally different take on this machine, one that may have rolled the local streets during the war...so thanks and know I am a big student of History, first and foremost, and accuracy, and so want this "grail" of a project to come off just right. I built models of this and other tanks as a kid, but now, with this behemoth of a kit, I feel more responsible to make it mean something. Not sure why. To receive kind words like your's means the world to me!

Thank you so much for the kind words. I have spent so long thinking about this thing, to actually have one is a blessing. 95% of the work was done by David Stann of course, his amazingly accurate model sculpt captures Bruce like I have never seen. I only augmented here and there. But to have such words means a bunch to me. Thanks so much!

You should check out Jazz Inc The ultimate Hot Toys Darth Vader A New Hope custom Parts 1 to 3. I did everything he did and I followed every step to the letter and now it's my favourite figure out of over 70 figures from the Star Wars Hot Toys collection. Just make sure to pick up the Rogue One Darth Vader hands as the ANH version looks silly. Best of luck brtoher, Figure is looking awesome
