On thing that bugs me about Box Set reviews is that no one ever mentions the bonus manga. Like how Box Set 1 comes with Romance Dawn, the original two versions of the first chapters, or how Box Set 2 comes with the manga adaptation of Strong World. Sorry, it just kinda bugs me.

Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a quick note here. It's really hard to find these box sets now, but One Piece is a huge franchise and they will be reprinting these without a doubt. Don't let someone online manipulate you into buying them overpriced on eBay or somewhere else. You can still read the story online through Shonen Jump/Viz Media's subscription service, which is like $2 a month. And then buy the physical box sets/volumes for a FAIR PRICE when they're officially back on the shelves and reprinted. Happy New Year everyone!

I thought I was the only one that cared about getting these with the new Shonen Jump logo lmao. Been trying to get other series (like MHA, Demon Slayer, Haikyu, and Promised Neverland) with these logos and it’s a pain cuz there’s always a few volumes I have yet to find with those logos

usually complete long shonen manga like this, they don't do that. db and dbz was probably the cut-off for how long a series would need to be in a single box set. Naruto has 2, bleach has 3 (4?) and one-piece will have probably 5 since we're in endgame territory.

Can someome please educate me on if there's anything specific about the logos that needs consideration while ordering these box sets or is it just personal preference from a collector's standpoint? I'm planning to order the three box sets available on Amazon in my country (India), so is there anything specific I need to look out for before ordering them?

It is just personal preference. As far as I know, the content of the volumes is exactly the same. You can think of the old logo as a sort of "1st edition print", so that might increase the "collector's value" in the future, but the new logo will look a bit better on a shelf when the manga ends and Viz publishes all the volumes with the same style for the spines (unless Viz changes the logo again lol, but I don't think that will happen before One Piece ends). I think the only problem about it is, for example, that you buy the three box sets and you end up getting, let's say, box set one and three with the old logo and box set two with the new one, so the volumes would look inconsistent on a shelf, but as long as you order the three box sets around the same date and on the same site you should be good.

I also like both manga's but I would personally get One Piece. In case you did not know Viz announced a box set 4 for One Piece (volume 71-90) and it is available for pre order right now. The official tweet from Viz gives you the link for the Barnes and Nobles purchase but Amazon also has it for preorder.

box set 1 has 23 books, box set 2 has 23 books, box set 3 has 24 books. So its safe to assume box set 4 will have 23-24 books as well which would take us up to 93/94 which only just came out. So if I had to make a guess, from a business standpoint, not for another 2 years. *EDIT* So I looked up when Box Set 3 was announced and it was in March 2016 when at the time Volume 78 came out in the US. so 8 volumes ahead. With 4 volumes a year average and 95 coming out in Dec of this year. if the BS4 has up to 94 then 8 volumes ahead would be 102. 2021 would see 96-99 and 2022 would see 100-103. so yeah, 2 year wait.

I have a question for anyone who has bought any box set. Do it come with some damage volumes ? I´m wondering if it is a thing only on my country or if it is like a common practice. The editorial (Panini Manga) usually uses some damage volumes o volumes with some sort of error or bad printing to full the box sets.

It's purely aesthetics. VIZ changed their logo semi-recently so longer running series like One Piece look slightly different when displayed on a shelf. If you look at a volume of One Piece from four years ago and compare it with one today, the SJ and VIZ logo on the spine won't match. There's nothing better or worse about it. It's just personal preference. Some people even prefer the older look of the spines! I hope that's helpful!
