thats what makes him and other streamers so strong in league. its the attitude towards losing. the highest league player is not the one who performs best, when he is winning. its the one who can handle defeat the best. in summary - i would say - its the losetolerance which makes a great league player. not his ability and knowledge of the game. the shier willpower of overcoming - incompetent teammates and inting. ofcourse it helps to have a good micro, understanding of the items etc. but thats everyone can learn. handling to lose, on a regular basis, with the full knowledge you did nothing wrong and still lost - and just hit the play again button - is what seperates these people from us average jonnies.

Having the progress that Tyler has is already crazy enough. Doing it with what was supposed to be a meme opening is almost unbelievable
@JT-xu1qd7 ай бұрын
Imho, the meme opening is key to his success, in contrast to what you are implying. Pretty much no one knows cow theory, and I doubt many players have seen it enough in games to know how to deal with it. Couple that with a time format where the opponent doesn't get time to properly think and you have a serious advantage.

People were saying when he reached 1000 with the Cow that it would definitely hold him back and he would plateau at 13-1500 because supposedly it's too passive. Now he's 2000 so his chess speaks for itself really.

The most amazing thing about all of this is Tyler said on stream that he has no clue who Anna Cramling is. Now, if that is true, it means one of two things: 1) Like Hikaru, he knew about this opening from an obscure historical source before Anna popularized it in modern times. 2) He came up with this opening himself. So, his brain is functioning at a 2000+ level well before he ever crossed 1000 and it’s just a matter of time before his rating catches up.

He does know her, maybe not by name though. In last year's pogchamps she was one of the commentators, and in one of the interviews Tyler credited her KZbin shorts to him learning the cow.
