NAW. The trust trope doesn't fit this scenario, for Sanji or Robin. Sanji's persona - kindness - most of the Strawhats “feel more safer” in Sanji's care. Robin has been calling the Strawhats by their names since the events of Ennies Lobby. Robin is the ultimate price. It was just a plot device. Not to mention match-up setups for Strawhats without match-ups. The chapter wasn't that deep.

I think the difference to why Sanji called for help now versus in his “fight” with Caulifa, is because he learned that he could rely on his crew no matter what due to his experience in the Whole Cake Island arc. Sure, he trusted them beforehand, but through his rescue from Judge and Big Mom, he realized that no matter how dire the circumstances, his crew mates will always come to help him no matter what. Furthermore, he realizes that he doesn’t have the power to overcome any obstacle by himself. It took a punch to the face from his captain to make him realize that “you have us”. So now he’s more comfortable with calling for help with his crew. And if that’s not character development, then I don’t know what is. What I love is the subtleness of it. It’s something small, yet makes perfect sense and portrays the character’s growth based on the previous arc. Oda is master writer.

True .. before during Enies Lobby when he told Usopp 'You handle what you can and let us handle what we can' thing .. that was also more him taking the problems onto himself. Now here after WCI, he understands, 'you know what I DONT NEED to take it on me and i can CALL on others and let them take care of it and its not that he is shifting responsibilities but rather trusting his friends and their abilities.. Also the second layer of this was trusting Robin to take care of a tobi roppo member and not letting her feel that she is just a glass figure that the crew needs to ONLY take care of... Which is why she was happy that he actually called on for help.

Rather than oda not using her because of being OP it is because her style of fighting against regular strong opponents would be kind of boring... Either she can just snap their necks and finish the fight just like that or she isn't strong enough to do that and it just would feel weird getting robin in a punch out match with someone... because there is not much she can actually do in a fight from the shounen manga perspective. In skypea and Dressarosa she was protecting someone when she got hurt but getting hurt in a one on one match would feel weird for her character... but against a giant woman her making weird stuff with her powers to fight, topple her or plainly creating giant limbs to give single punches feels right...

It blows my mind that after 1000 chapters there are still people who try to powerscale and think one piece is all about who is strongest when its more of an adventure Shonen where even the battles and power levels are all story driven. People need to learn to accept characters have good and bad personality traits. Oda is a master of this. He's done it with mainly antagonists but when he does it with the protagonists, people take it as if Oda is dissing his own characters.. meanwhile, the reality is , sanji developed massively in this Chapter.

@@JRMagro There is an argument to be made that Oda is dissing his own characters. The best recent example of it would be Big Mom. She went through a whole amnesia arc that served no plot point other than break Luffy out of prison and get her and Kaido together. I felt that it was a wasted opportunity of expanding on Big Moms character. She was with Chopper and i hoped this would lead to Chopper diagnosing Big Mom as a doctor and perhaps find out what was wrong with her. Yet that did not happen, nor did the whole amnesia thing serve no other thing than to get characters from plot point A to plot point B. Do not also forget when Franky ran over Big Mom on his motorcycle and then thrown out of the room by Jinbe, like a sack of potatoes. Big Mom has been done great disservice as a Yonko. You would never see Oda treat Kaido, Shanks, Blackbeard or even Whitebeard like he did Big Mom recently. He is slowly redeeming her in my eyes with the battle atop Onigashima but that creates another problem. Oda s asking us to stretch our suspension of disbelief that Luffy, kid and others can stand toe to toe with Kaido in such a short amount of time, let alone two Yonkos. I cant. I really want to, but Oda is asking too much of me.

To me it added in another layer of intrigue to the overall story. Plus it showed a side of big mom that we've never seen before. People were saying it was just a convenient way to nerf big mom or get her to switch sides but neither of those things happened. Her interactions with chopper and toki were adorable and hilarious . We got amazing action panels with o lin suplexing and throwing queen around. Then queen mega headbutting her. Once again, its a story based manga, and even still big mom had been portrayed amazingly if you ask me. She has never truly been hurt. She only gets removed or momentarily passes out by flukes . Which to me protects her character. Kaido has taken legit losses multiple times and admits to taking damage yet is still considered as a beast. Yet because big mom is a goofy childish character and is rolled away after being taken by surprise by a giant cyborg motorcycle, suddenly oda hates one of his most feared and protected characters? Lol. Luffy and the others SURVIVED whole cake. The news lied and told everyone that she lost to luffy and that luffy was some big shot emperor now . Her chasing luffy into kaidos turf knowing how dangerous he is, is nothing but a positive for her character. People just focus on the wrong things. Also.. people are gonna act like that motorcycle panel wasnt one of the best one piece action shots ever drawn? 😂 and it did ZERO damage to big mom. She then attacked him quick af and was taken surprise by JINBEI a former warlord who is known for physical strength, and then got rolled out by Robin who has one of the most broken fruits in the story. Who could of foreseen a bunch of arms coming out of the ground and rolling them away? What did she do after that? Oh yeah, she ran into Marco and was about to KILL him rather easily until carrot and wanda showed up. And now whats she doing? She's been outshinning kaido and been the only one to damage the supernova on the roof so far. Oda clearly was just saving showing some of her true power for when the roof. He wanted us to guess what route big/ side big mom would end up taking . What would happen when she saw chopper post amnesia? Would perospero turn her against kaido? Oda wasn't dissing her dude lol. The amnesia served a purpose because it showed layers to big moms subconscious that we haven't seen. (Her wanting the oshiruko for her friends) , it added intrigue, and her breaking into the prison lead to queen leaving the prison and luffy being able to take it over. She wouldn't have ever gone to the prison otherwise. She would have woken up and raged. Maybe tried to find kaido . Then they would have fought and pledged allegiance. Really.. who cares? It lead to some cool and funny moments, and no one is currently questioning big moms strength with where we are right now in the story now are they??? People just wanna complain.

The thing is that's perfectly fine because Sanji's story isn't about being super strong, it's about finding the All Blue, becoming the best chef he can to support his crew, and being chivalrous to all women. Meanwhile, Zoro's entire story is literally about being the strongest. It's the people who can't accept that and who demand and argue that Sanji is some ultra strongest warrior the world has ever seen.... those are the worst people. I don't think people noticed that this was actually character growth on sanji's part. Instead of putting himself in a deadly situation to protect his friends without asking them to help him (like in totland) He actually counted on robin and trusted her with the situation

Black Maria has way to much faith in the plan for Robin to read the Ponaglyphs, cause even if you captured her she just could refuse to read them, torture probably would work and you literally can't kill her cause you lose her ability, you'd put her in an extremely strong position, and Luffy, Zoro, Jinbe, and Sanji are way to strong at this point to pull the old "do it or I'll kill them"

Sanji wasn't, he acted like a joke that he was turned into post time-skip. The whole scene is set up like a comic relief. That's what I am not OK with, when character growth moments are presented in a way jokes are.

This is something that is really great/funny about the "One Piece: Pirate Warrior" games. Sanji *LITERALLY* can't hit girls in those games. Whenever he would about to kick a female opponent, an invisible barrier will instantly block it. The games will actually warn you about this fact if you are picking Sanji and there's a female opponent you would be facing.
