I in general like the new compositing effects, though on the negative side it sometimes causes lack of clarity. Not knowing whether something is an attack or an effect. Also I really hated how the punch that showed Luffy hit Kaido without touching him had such a bright light in the middle of it that you literally couldn't see what was happening. There's a balance to it that I think they are getting better and better at achieving.

Portions of the zoro fight were truly top tier for me. The final part in particular where he’s cutting through the dragons is awesome to see and probably one of my favourite animation moments of the series, but a lot of the fight was so flashy and over the top that it was almost hard to watch in a way. You have to really focus in to understand what you’re looking at. Tried to show it to my gf and she was like “I have no idea wtf is going on but it makes my eyes happy”. Sanji’s on the other hand was much more tame and easy to absorb. Especially the final sequence with that one animator. I love his art style so much and I actually think it might be better than zoro’s sequence despite me being a zoro fan. It is just so clean and fast paced while still being easy to absorb and has its own unique flair. Also like ruff said, sanji’s episode had strong strong character development whereas zoro’s was kinda just king’s backstory, other that zoro’s classic flashback of him being the strongest swordsman. But it’s nowhere near as impactful and wholesome as sanji’s, especially after whole cake. In the end… Zoro’s fight was more of a spectacle and was indeed beautiful to watch, and yes, everyone loves a good sword fight… But I think Sanji’s episode was overall better. Impactful, wholesome, beautiful and smooth with a wonderful resolution of him breaking free of his shackles. It has similar beauty to zoro’s fight with a truly impactful moment on top of that. Both absolutely top tier, especially back to back. Huge credit to the animators, editors, etc, for both episodes… Cannot wait to see the big mom and kaido fight next. I can only imagine it’ll be even better than this.

I think physically Kaido is in his prime, since he is just a mountain of muscle, but mentally he’s too depressed to be fighting to the full extent of his potential. His prime would be before reaching the top of the mountain, metaphorically speaking, I suppose that would be when his ambitions were at their peak, such as at the inception of the Beast Pirates or during period around his fight with Gecko Moria. However after Odens execution, when he realized he killed the last person who’ll truly challenge him, that’s when the depression set in. Yeah Whitebeard, Big Mom, and Shanks were around but I don’t think Kaido would seriously fight either WB or Big Mom since they were all from the same crew. Look at the Big Mom and Kaido fight with current context to see how neither one were really trying to do any real damage, and i don’t think he regarded Shanks very highly until their meeting when Kaido was on his way to Marineford, well after his depression started.

It's possible the minions under Jack called him that since it seems Jack does more of the heavy lifting, like going to other islands and checking on towns and such. And it's not like Jack isn't recognized for his deeds. Early on in the Raid, he gets beat up badly by the Minks, and Kaido shows concern. I just think Jack does so much, gets the praise he deserves, and the lower branches see that instead of King who, up till the Raid, was in the background, possibly to hide his lineage.

Kaido told them all want they wanted to hear. He groomed Jack, Queen, and King. There's no way Oda didn't have that planned out in someway. It's the same as Doffy as he grew up grooming with Heart, Club, Spade, and Diamond (as much as Doffy was groomed himself, but was so powerful he took control). Oda had plans that he probably switched around his thought process but it's too similar to deny. Queen just....ate the role under Kaido even though he had more experience and knew how the world works.

The fight is fun, and yes auras work in an anime context cause its a visual language anime watchers understand easily. That doesnt mean it couldnt have been done better or more uniquely if the animators and artists stretched their limits. I enjoyed all the fights in wano immensely so far but still wish the creativity had been pushed a little bit beyond the same visual language in nearly every action anime since the 90s. To me King's moments in this ep, all his moves and shots were more interesting and cool than zoros, but being a main character and fan favorite zoro just slashes stuff harder with broly aura and people go nuts

I was so proud of Sanji but Zoro has been always my main dude and not even because swords are way cooler..totally agree with that 💯 but I know if they had swapped villains for Sanji and Zoro that Sanji would have struggled big time may have even lost... and Zoro would have Queen down before he had even turned invisible. And that's why the comparison, in my opinion , of Sanji and Zoro fight that Zoro's was way better. I loved every second of that fight...he almost destroyed the island to defeat king and that all on just the medicine he had to take(because of that badass fight with kaido he did) to have enough strength to fight while Enma was sucking his life force away. Love your videos, man. I feel like we are kindred spirits every time I watch your reactions to my favorite anime of all time.
