First Law is defeated by Black Beard and now Kidd is defeated by Shanks. Only by teaming up and working together did they have a chance at fighting a Yonko. After they fought Big Mom, we see how they are easily defeated when they fight a Yonko by themselves. This just shows a reminder why the Yonko are that strong.

Shank's attack came at a time when Kid was unable to defend. It's different from when fighting Big Mom. This case is similar to when Luffy was immediately knocked out by Kaido's move. Big Mom didn't get nerfed at all. When she attacks together with Kaido Even with Zoro's full defense, he was barely able to block them. And Big Man was defeated by two people attacking him.

I remember when this chapter was first released in manga, it made a commotion in the community, it wasn't just about the kid being destroyed but because shanks used roger technique, and if my memory is not wrong it's not far from when roger released the technique in the anime.

Luffy just saw Kaido launch a death beam against his crew, possibly lethally wounding them; he was desperate. 2. Kidd was about to straight up murder Shanks' allies; something that Luffy would never do. Luffy might be reckless but he is also likeable. Kidd would have lost regardless, but he got destroyed to this extent because he is an asshole.

Yes they are facing two different people, Kaido may destroy Luffy with one attack but he still let him live so that he can be used as a subordinate, on the other hand Shanks does not give mercy.
