Episode 151 is so damn exciting because it's the first time that Oda unleashed his "Holy Shit" worldbuilding on the reader/watcher. You really start to realize that the world of One Piece is a living, breathing world that exists outside of the Straw Hats.

4:31 fun fact, you can follow how much time has passed since the start of the journey, because Oda made sure the moon phases follow real life time passing(it's easier to follow via manga because more obvious). Up until this point of the story there has been 1 full moon and that was the night Chopper joined. It started from Usopp's village as waxing crescent(Kuro stated the waxing crescent brings out his bloodlust). Fun way to keep track of time passing

Both of the real names of Blackbeard (Marshall D. Teach), and Whitebeard (Edward Newgate) are he half of the real life name of the british pirate, Edward Teach, A.K.A Blackbeard.

"Saint Sengoku" is a wild translation... the original is like "Sengoku the Buddha" or something like that. Buddha not necessarily meaning THE Buddha, it can be anyone who's achieved enlightenment. It's also used for all sorts of buddha statues that you see in Buddhist temples and such, which I think have a significance of their own too. The word in Japanese is hotoke (仏), and I guess the translator just didn't know what to make of it. I think "Sengoku the Enlightened" would have worked fine The annoying thing is that there are people who are called something that does make sense to translate as "saint" later on and this confuses the matter quite a lot. Sengoku is not one of these people

Seems like a pretty reasonable localization (as opposed to translation) choice to me. A saint is also someone who has achieved enlightenment, just according to the standards of a different religion.

Shanks was not stated to be a warlord. The only warlords that have been shown/talked about are Kuma, Doflamingo, Mihawk, and Jimbe. Jimbe was talked about as a fishman previously being on a crew with Arlong, when Johnny was saying Arlong was a threat.

the official english spelling of the Holy Land is Mary Geoise, most people pronounce it Mary/Marie Joyce/Geo-se, however the proper pronunciation is 'Marie Ju-wa' with a french inflection, given its french inspiration.

I like the aspect of Blackbeard that make him like Luffy’s Wario. Like hey wanna see someone just as determined as Luffy but was greedy, more of a brute And a big dude? Gives an interesting dynamic than to just have another antagonist roll up to just be a big bad.

I love how much you appreciate Robin. :) She's usually quietly in the background, but she gets things done and has information ready. Episode 151 has so many big reveals. And something of note: go back to the episodes where Luffy and Blackbeard interact. Even when Blackbeard is encouraging Luffy about following his dreams, Luffy doesn't smile back at him. It makes you wonder if Luffy had an instinctive feeling about Blackbeard, even without knowing who he truly was. And I love how Blackbeard and Luffy have similar ideals, but completely opposite tastes. Now we're onto the next arc, Sky Island.

Black Beard doesn't really care about the bounty for getting rich. Remember, he's trying to make a name for himself in order to become Crocodile's successor. Luffy vs Bellamy is still one of my favourite moments in One Piece. That time the Manga releases had caught up with the Anime in Germany and I have that panel seared into my brain. Just to then watch it again animated.

I love episode 151 so much! On top of all of the stuff with Blackbeard, we’ve finally met Whitebeard, the strongest man in the world, the Gorosei, who are the highest authority in the world, and two more of the Seven Warlords of the Sea. This episode and this arc are chock-full of worldbuilding and lore, some of the best things about _One Piece._ Our first time meeting Blackbeard is pure genius to me. When we first meet him, he’s just some random guy in a bar who loves a cherry pie that Luffy hates. And then, he interacts with Luffy outside and is the only one to recognize that Luffy won. And Luffy and Zoro have that line about him being strange. But you sort of forget about it because of all the stuff with cricket and Bellamy. And then, when they finally reveal his name, it all comes into focus how dangerous he is. This is the guy who destroyed Drum Island with just five people. This is the guy Ace desperately wants to track down and bring to just. Not to mention being named after the most notorious pirate from the real world, the one there are legends about. This dude is _bad_ news.

I always get so confused when I see people reacting to the anime version of Luffy vs Bellamy, I think they must have extended it because in the manga Luffy doesn't struggle at all, he dodges once and then throws his one single punch, that's the whole fight

With the Warlords being based off the Seven Deadly Sins because of their personalities, abilities, and connections. Guess which ones Doflamingo and Kuma are. As for Mihawk, he would be Sloth (Want of a life with no effort, and lack of socialism.). Here is why I think that: • He has a anti social, self-centred, layed back attitude. • His swordplay seems to be somewhat effortless. As in, he's too relaxed and acts like it's just everyday recurrence for him. • Mihawk was disturbed by Don Krieg while he was taking a nap. • His rival Zoro tends to sleep at the worst possible times.
