One of the big reason why Luffy Isn't using G4 is that it deplete his stamina and Haki entierly leaving him extremly vulnerable if it end. Here he doesn't know the full extend of Katakuri's power, he doesn't understand why some of his attack go trough him. So he isn't 100% sure G4 will be a clean win, and if it's not it's a total loss for him. Luffy May appear dumb, but he has an incredible Battle IQ

True. Gear 4 is very taxing, and we shouldn't forget he has basically been fighting nonstop since he came to Whole Cake, with just a little rest. Granted, he ate meat and took a nap, and Luffy recovers pretty quickly, but still...

When it comes to my favorite Strawhats, Nami, Zoro, Sanji, and Robin are my favorites. They've shown many badass trust moments with Luffy's decision. Even Nami had to deal with that daily when her job is to make sure to bring the crew to a safe place, she has to obey Luffy's order to sail to one of the most dangerous places they can get themselves into and provide the best way to do what Luffy wants even tho she absolutely hate that decision personally. the coolest part of a barrel is since the space is being reduced as the wave crashes, all the air gets pushed toward the open end so in this case it would propel the ships sails. I always wanted summonable wings for this sole purpose

Luffy doesnt use G4 right away because its meant to be a battle-ender. If he cracks it right at the beginning with someone like Katakuri, not only is he showing his best card too early, he'd also get hella shafted if he has to wait 10 minutes due to haki depletion.

The crew trusting Luffy and actually following his orders hits different because outside of serious battles like this, Luffy's the happy go lucky idiot that no one 'respects' since he has so many dangerous and stupid whims that they have to fight back on or physically restrain him from. But during life or death situations, they completely trust him to have the whole crew's best interests in mind and to be able to hold his own when he says that he can. The crew knows when to treat to him like a serious captain and when to treat him as their goofy friend and I'm so glad that they're showing Nami in this situation because she's usually the one that argues with him the most when things aren't this serious.

While Katakuri keeps Luffy occupied, the mirrors continue to be an issue for the Sunny, they have other problems too, a tidal wave of Perospero's homie-fied candy stares down the ship. Fortunately Jinbe's up to the task, surfing across the wave to exit. With Nami also breaking the mirrors, the Sunny gets a breather of safety as BM's forces assume they're dead

8:15 Literally yes. I can’t stress enough there’s just something so special and different about One Piece compared to any other anime, and my anime count surpasses 500. It’s literally on an entirely different level. I love anime like Naruto, BNHA, KnY, and other such really popular anime, but none of them are a match for One Piece. Probably known by now but just in case... When luffy uses gear 4th he gets depleted after a few minutes... if he is not certain he can take down the enemy in that time... he is dead if he uses it... with doflamingo he failed and he barely survived because there were multiple persons fighting him to delay him and give luffy a chance to rest... versus katakuri if he does not beat him on first try he is done...

Luffy doesn't use gear 4 immediately because it has limited time. Imagine going up against a super strong opponent, not knowing the extent of their capabilities or how to beat them, and just blowing your strongest ability off the rip.
