Also, in the beginning scene when Sanji and Zeff are cooking together, I loved how it: 1) showed how well they worked together as they have been cooking together for years. 2) showed how clearly Sanji learned all his cooking skills from Zeff. 3) how they made the “it needs more oregano”/“oregano is for savages,” into an inside joke from their first meeting and they both smiled while saying it. All in all, it showed exactly how they were father-and-son to each other.

The fish skin is actually based in reality. It's apparently good for staving off infection and inflammation. It's being looked at as a potential treatment for burns, not gaping chest wounds. But then, One Piece logic.

Correction about Buggy, while the LA did give him what appears to be infinite range, he can't control his body parts from any distance as show in Arlong Park where he needs to be closer to his body to control it. It seems that he can still feel anything through the body parts, but not control them.

I actually thought one of the most important lines was when Luffy asks Nami her dream and she says “not everyone gets to follow their dreams.”
@MartRen98289 ай бұрын
Luffy's reaction after the battle with Mihawk is the exact reason why the crew agreed to keep Zoro's sacrifice a secret during Thriller Bark. They knew their captain would react this way during these kinds of situations. And it peaks during Post War arc when he has PTSD seeing Ace die.
@grennbalze9 ай бұрын
I actually really liked Sanjis departure. I felt the awkwardness of how do you say goodbye, and it took Zef just saying something simple for Sanji to say how he truly felt towards him. Was more emotional for me than the original. Theres a certain desperation as they are getting fuether apart and he realizes he may never see him again or have a chance to say this
@mobbs64269 ай бұрын
Deserves more likes. I have to agree with you. In terms of the emotional moments, this came closer to the anime Nami moment than the LA Nami moment did, at least for me. Rudd did well enough, I'm sure plenty of people reacted how I did my first time, but the changes to the next arc reduced the emotive weight for me, and the scene just didn't hit as hard. This, on the other hand, was handled perfectly. It's a Western adaptation, and we only kneel before our monarch, god or missus, so it was wise to have him stand, and them ending on the argument, something had to be said. Neither knew where to start, so Zef broke the ice with some dadvice, which Sanji could only reply to with everything that was running through his head in the moment. Maybe it's because I expected the scene, and they almost made me believe it wasn't happening, but when they finally broke, I broke with them a little.
@thievesofd9 ай бұрын
A lot of how he handles himself and how he’s presented (Zeff) strikes me as an old military cook of some kind and basic triage and first aid was something many (of higher rank) were required to know back during the actual age of piracy at least. Him knowing the fish skin (used more modernly) would work as a graft also fits in with the world having this unique standard of technology that is so unbalanced and erratic that it’s hard to know what is and isn’t on the table. I really like the touch, it’s a “huh, that makes sense” kind of feeling.

Fun fact Young Sanji is played by Christian Conroy who also was Gus in “Sweet Tooth” which is a bit a an interesting coincidence in the anime young Sanji is voiced by Ikue Otani (Chopper’s va), so here are some Easter Eggs like: - Luffy & Usopp is based on the one he wears on the color spread of Ch.107 while Zeff’s is based on the one he wore in the past - Notice next to Luffy with the Wado is some Rice Balls / onigiri which is a reference to Zoro liking them & his attack Oni Giri - The bottle that Zeff drank from comes from Whiskey Peak & is the same from Makino’s Partys Bar - Zeff mentions that the nearest doctor is on Conomi Island which is a reference to Doctor Nako - While on the rock Sanji has some can food that says “Pigeon Arroser” which comes from the Shokugeki no Sanji Ch.3 & another that says pumpkins as a reference to Skypiea - Nami is reading “Noland the Lair” to the unconscious Zoro which if you look at a page in the book you can spot Pandaman & she was wearing the outfit that she wore in the Volume 11 cover that is until she used that to reveal her Arlong Pirates Tattoo - The man at the table that talks to Arlong is Motzel who is a well known customer / gourmand who you can see in the background of the manga & anime - Zeff’s peg leg is broken by Kroobi but in the manga it was actually Gin - As they are about to leave the Baratie you can see next to Zoro sitting down a box that says Galley-La company

yea the great thing with the LA is it's a great vehicle for very different situations and interactions like with Zeff and Garp. None of it is wildly out there, it's moments that would make sense if it did become a different series of events and that's what I really am interested in seeing in future seasons. Like maybe we'll get Coby meeting Smoker and Tashigi.

It really wasn't that uncommon for chefs to know some first aid or even have some surgeon skills back in the day, especially on ships or in military camps where an actual medic would be hard at work at work and need an extra pair of hands. 11:36 as someone else has said, the fish skin trick is a real thing and research is going into potentially expanding the use of it as it has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, and it is significantly cheaper to use for skin grafts. The science research into this is relatively new and one of the fish used for trials in China is the tilapia, but cod had also been used. Fish skin also sticks to skin and has collagen and other traits that promote healing. Apparently this idea was invented due to the lack of human donors in poor countries.

Actually the shortest warlord is tied between Boa and Law, who are both 6'3 (191cm) with Buggy only an inch taller at 6'4. The tallest is Moria at 22'8 and Kuma at 22'7 and Weevil at 22'4. Mihawk is 6'6, Croc is 8'4, Jinbei is 9'11, Doffy is 10' and Blackbeard is 11'3. So I'm very curious how they'll pull off such vast changes in height. (although, if we're being real, Moria is probably going to be the hardest of the Warlords to really pull off in LA anyway)
@benikujaku45679 ай бұрын

That limb losing is why I say Sanji is the translator of Luffy. He is the hidden right hand man. Zoro is the Vice captain not the right hand man. Jinbe is the protector of Luffy, he is the hidden director of the crew. Nami is the supply manager so she is the quartermaster. Right hand men are the mediators between Captains and their crewmates. Vice Captains are the skill, training and dedication managers.
@Mohamad-m7md6 ай бұрын
If anything zoro is actually the right hand man but NOT the vice captain most of the captaining is done by Nami and then Sanji actually led a part of the crew as an official captain but Zoro never did that so I would say Sanji has shown more leader qualities then Zoro

Garp may well be aware of Kuma's Revolutionary status, so calling him in to deal with MONKEY D Luffy would have probably ended a little differently. Jimbe at least doesn't have any real connection to Dragon, or at the very least, would be less likely to prioritise Dragon over Garp when he realises the connection, it is a better choice than Kuma. So, in his desperate situation, dead in the water with Luffy possibly making a beeline for the Grand Line, Garp reaches out to a Warlord. It's not like he can call in another Marine ship. They'll just end up issuing a bounty, and then there's no turning back, Luffy is absolutely a pirate from then on. Of the 7 choices, the sleazy Croc, sociopathic Moria, phychopathic Doflamingo, the self-centred Boa, the revolutionary Kuma, or the honourable Jimbe or Mihawk, there are really only two options. Jimbe poses a somewhat higher chance of outright allying with Luffy, so send in the not vampire Side note: Monkey, Dragon, quite possibly Crocodile. Are we sure it isn't meant to be Carp?
