As re you going to have any issues with shrinkage for your new wood rafters as they dry? Intricate cuts to fit your crosses. 🐺

Perhaps some shrinkage, but that's why I've been adamant about the linseed oil right away. It should help a bit with warping, and the drying process. Helps dry it slower!✌🏾

I have installed probably over 100 Gabion baskets or boxes in strategic areas to prevent erosion over the years that I was doing dirt work. They are often installed at the end of a culvert or flood area where fast moving water might erode natural river embankments etc where to conjoin.. I do not know of a more effective method that lasts so long. I recently visited one I helped install over 20 yrs ago and it is still doing its job as intended and aside from some degradation to the metal it is intact and no erosion has occurred there in that time. Back then we called them "gay-bee-uhn" boxes and now I hear how you say it and it occurred to me that we might have been saying it wrong lol. Awesome content and funny intro, keep up the good work of restoring mother nature!

Is there any problem with treating the freshly-cut lumber with linseed oil before it has had a chance to dry thoroughly? Beautiful job leveling the rafters, by the way. Really appreciate the work you must have put in there.

Thank you very much we're honestly on the "easy" part of the build, but the linseed oil actually penetrates the wood and helps lessen warping twisting, and the shrinkage, in so much that it creates a slower more uniform dry to the wood. Putting stain or paint actually seals the wood so no moisture can escape, linseed oil allows drying to take place still!✌🏾
