I actually kind of liked the portal room floor. I'm not an interior designer either though. If you're going to have a dozen or so portals, maybe leave them unlabelled? It could be an extra layer of home security where you know where in the cave you'll end up, but does Tango??

if your using windows. Ctrl+alt+delete, then task manager then google chrome and end task, if that doesn't work we need to be more ambitious and you need to locate and remove precisely 95% of your ram temporarily which should route the processing away from chrome, if that doesn't work the only way to fix your problem is to burn your computer and hope the problem doesn't escape into other devices

You could make a similarly circular floor design out of crying obsidian, Blackstone and basalt. Making it have different segments or "rings" could give you a better indication of where you're entering the portal without cluttering it with too much "info". Alternatively you could go bonkers and create small concrete pieces in a colour that corresponds to your entire base, sort of like last season's nether hub, only with a way way more pixly looking "map".

I thank you for giving me a better understanding on how portals work. I already knew about the "1 block in the nether = 8 blocks in the overworld" mechanic, but didn't realise you could arrive at different portals in the overworld by using 1 portal in the nether.

Polished basalt woven together makes a really cool floor pattern, as does the top of normal basalt, but not together. Blackstone & Gilded blackstone is another idea. I would also consider a ceiling other than netherrack, but seeing as that's your redstone hideaway, perhaps Netherbrick floors, with blackstone walls on the other side of the outermost portals would be easiest. For lighting, perhaps Soul lanterns hanging from the center of each quadrant(or normal lanterns if netherbrick is chosen) if it's single block center.

For the portal room interior, I'd say limit your pallet to three or four colors. Keep in mind, two colors are already used up by the black and purple of the portals. I like the shape of the design on the floor, though.

So much to enjoy about this episode. Poor Tim! I thought villagers didn't lose their profession when they got zombified? Since that's the "feature" by which people get super cheap trades? Maybe he had no barrel near enough? Having the right work station might still be necessary after zombification. That points even more at it being a glitch rather than purposeful. As if you being creative and wacky wasn't enough, now I get to learn things about Minecraft too. I had never contemplated crossing portals before -- I would have guessed that they didn't work, but it's better to know for sure. So now I am sure diagonal ones won't work either -- I'm building a diagonal place right now, so a lot of things are more difficult to make look good and eventually a portal might have come up. And hey. thanks to you I have a solution, and it's more elegant than the off/on portal I made before to shut off the noise.

I recently subbed to you Zedaph and I must say I can really tell you put a lot of work into your episodes, you're a really funny bloke. Loved the intro and love the portal idea! A miniature version of your base would be very fitting indeed, I do think using less saturated overworld materials in the nether usually looks better because otherwise your base just clashes with the grimey oversaturated rest of the nether (no offense to falses hub, just not a fan of the cyan on a red back ground).

I think you should try making the floor a checkerboard pattern of smithing tables and polished blackstone. Also, if you have the time/funds to make some solid color maps, you can put item frames inside of the portal where the purple swirly stuff is and put the color maps in to help you organize the portals from the nether.
