One Pot Beginner’s or Bachelor’s Sambar / Sambar recipe / South Cookery Recipes

One pot Sambar / Bachelor’s Sambar.
Ingredients and Method 👇
In a pressure cooker
Toor dal - 1/2 cup
Moong dal - 1/4 cup
Shallots - 5 nos
Garlic - 5 cloves
Green chilies - 4 nos
Tomatoes - 1 or 2 nos
Curry leaves
Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
Hing - 1/2 tsp
Water - 4 cups
Pressure cook to 4 whistles in low medium heat
Vegetables of your choice
Tamarind extract - lemon sized soaked in 1/2 water and extracted
Once the dal gets cooked
Add the vegetables and tamarind extract
Sambar powder - 2 tbsp

Salt to taste
Water - 1 or 2 cups
Pressure cook to 2 whistles in medium heat
Once the pressure is down, open the lid and let it to boil in low heat for 2 to 3 mins…. Then turn off the heat
For tempering
Oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
Fenugreek seeds - 1 tsp
Curry leaves
Dried red chillies - 2 nos broken
Shallots - 4 nos chopped
Once the shallots are golden brown add red chili powder - 1/2 tsp and turn off the heat
Mix well and pour to the Sambar
Add some chopped coriander leaves give it a good mix and enjoy 🤗
You can add ghee on the top to have extra aroma and flavor 🤌✨🤌✨
