This was a beautiful morning for landscape photography. Without much of a plan I headed to a local beach for sunrise and came away with 2 completely different images.

Watching these videos back to back, right from the beginning. They take you to another world, Thomas's world. Same is true with the photograph he takes. They both form an inseparable whole. An integrated unit. Great work.

You definitely do have a style Thomas. Not necessarily in terms of your images, but in the way you go about capturing them. It's like being out on the hill/seashore/forest with your mate, having a chat about life etc.and watching them take great photographs. Love the abstract image of sand stripes.

Living and being an aspiring photographer in Hawaii with so many beaches available i tend to take the simplest compositions fore granted. After watching your recent videos, it's taught me to be more patient and to just take in the moment to appreciate the the little things.. I can honestly say my photography has improved just by doing just this. Thank Thomas. Amazing videos as always.

One thing that I started to carry with me in an outside pocket of my camera bag is a zip lock sandwich bag with a one meter square of Tyvek sheet inside. Tyvek has the consistency of a heavy construction paper but it is used in construction as a moisture barrier and I use it to lay on the ground before I put my bag down. This way I can keep my bag and my gear dry and even my behind if I need to sit down and nothing is dry. When I'm done I fold it back up and put it back into the sandwich bag, zip it up and back inside the pocket of my bag.

I’m really happy to see the second pic. Cause I watch your channel for a really long time. It’s the first pic you take from a different perspective. Most of the time on the beach long exposure/slow shutter speed ,sun ,front element, wide angle and the sun, color of the sky..... it’s not a absolutely stunning pic , but it’s a absolutely another beauty.

Thomas, Several questions and a suggestion: • Regarding your filters (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y36lXoKmjLyVbrMm25s), did you place the medium edge such that the graduated part covered the light reflected in the water with the fully dark part starting at the horizon? For the other filter, did you put the hard edge right on the horizon? • Did you consider cropping the picture of the sand (kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y36lXoKmjLyVbrMm) such that there was no horizon? It’s an alternative view, more abstract and reminiscent of your recent photo of the Alpine glacier. • Have you used Magic Lantern? It has a focus stacking feature. (kzbin.info/www/bejne/eZS1h4urmJuMqpY) • I recommend a 1m x 1m sheet of Tyvek, if that’s available in the UK. Put that on the sand and your stuff on it. Bring a plastic bag to hold the sandy folded Tyvek sheet when you leave the site. It won’t be perfect, but it will help. I’ve used a small Tyvek sheet for my “kitchen counter” when backcountry cooking. JB

Thomas, I usually save your videos for when I'm sitting having a cup of tea in the morning before braving the traffic to get to work. They have a calming effect on me! I've watched you since you began, and although my camera doesn't come out much these days (I abandoned time lapse for music and writing), I do still love the outdoors, and watching your videos often reminds me to get out of the house and go for a walk, which is never a bad thing. Sometimes, I even take my camera... thank you for continuing to inspire people.

Whether or not you have a signature "style," I will leave open for others to discuss, but I think what you do certainly have is a consistent and coherent "voice." Which is my way of saying that while your images may vary in their treatment or subject matter, they all very clearly display and evoke the way that you see our world; that is a wonderful thing and a pleasure to view. As always, my friend, great video and beautiful imagery.

I know what you mean about all the sand. I live in Florida and I pretty much focus on seascape photography. You might want to consider a bag that you can take off your back but still hangs on across your hip and swing around to the front. It acts like a table. I’ve gone thru so many bags and I found this style of bag is so convenient and clean when shooting on the beach. I use the lowepro flipside 400AW.

No set style is a good thing. And you have it. You have talent. People often ask me what "kind" of pictures do I take, and I respond, "anything that will stand in front on my lens." You and Kim Grant need to meet on the beach, Canon meets Nikon, and talk about the zen of photography. It would be an interesting, and long video.

Thank you so much for producing these excellent videos. I loved my landscape photography: the early mornings, the long hikes in the dark, the discomfort, the frustration made worth it by getting just one good image. Three years ago I got a blood and bone marrow cancer which broke my back, and led to permanent disability and mobility issues so I can't do what I used to do to the same extremes any more. Your videos bring those memories right back and for that I thank you :-)

I think it's great that you don't have a set style as that can lead to pedictability and that can soon get boring and uninspirational (if that's even a word), and if there is something you are it's either of those.!! Yet another rab jacket :) I ordered the microlight last night actually. I enjoy that you don't have a specific "style". People who do have the same style every photo seem boring and like they are a one trick pony. You show that you can take a good photo under several conditions. I would even challenge you to a new type every so often, like street photography or motor-sports photography! Expand your mind everyone.
