I main var and i go AP mid and prefer to take Riftmaker first with HOB..the Leer gives nice sustain similar to blood thirster..then nash tooth 2nd for on hit and Deathcap third..u literally one shot post R..and I max Q then W then R..also HOB is better rune path because you can pick ultimate hunter to reduce R CD. and cheap shot is good with Varus E. and Transcendance reduces CDs on abilities as you scale and manaflow band is good for mana issues.

@@annie3085 YEah I used to take nash first, but like i said i start Leeching Leer now 1st item bc of the lifesteal. it feels really good..if you take ign and are in a low hp fight with assasins the 3 pops of HOB and the healing you get from it can keep u alive. If you both ignite and u kill them you can survive by quickly autoing the minions to regain the hp lost by their ignite.

Pekin your math is hype, but don't forget about magic resist! You deal good %HP damage, but magic resist multiplicatively reducing it is a big counter. That Kai'sa incident for example, with her 41mr (reduced to 23 with sorcboots), she took -18% damage. "More than 100% of her life" reduced by 18%... made her survive. Never expect to deal 60% or 99% of their hp because each stack deals 20% or 33%. They won't deal that much, you don't deal true damage. But it still slaps for sure!

Yee at that point I didn't have enough AP yet. By the end I had 105% Max HP so then with Rift Maker 9% it's another ~9% True Damage putting it up to 114%... And I still didn't build void yet. Too bad the game ended before we made it to 130% Max HP

At 5:50 you mentioned Q max with muramana first, but I usually just go Q max first and straight into Nashor's and it seems to work better for me. W max first feels like I have no threat even when my jungler ganks.

AP Varus main here! It all depends on the matchup. If you're in a matchup where you can get a lot of autos off, go for W max. If you're struggling to get close to people, Q max is better.

If they have a lot of tanks, I would maybe prefer going straight into AP itemization and not buy Muramana. However, if they're all squishy, Muramana is a great first item.

I rarely give likes (they cost me money :P) but this video got a like from me. Love the way you explain every aspect of the skills used and how to use them to maximize the damage output. Lately I've been playing only AP Varus and IF you can manage to get the 2 core items in time (Nashor and the mythic) you are in for a fun ride. I am only Bronze 4, but this champ with Blades runes got me some nice games. 19/1/6 and quadrakill for a noob is quite something. One more thing - if you can manage to go LATE game with him (got over 1k AP in some games) the W percent goes up to 92-94% HP. If they have low MR they pop like bubbles :)))) And it is funny like hell to see a Cho go down with 2 skills.

Tenacity makes your ult root last shorter so it causes less blight stacks on targets. So if enemy tanks or carries are building tenacity, please make your tanks, supports or off-tank buildable carries buy Anathema. If the person that used chain is close to the chained target, the target's tenacity is lowered by 20%.

Or you can buy anathema yourself. AP Varus genuinely deals so much damage he can fit a single tank item into his build if he wants and depending upon the enemy team this can be an absolute nuissance of a move. So if the priority target has tenacity, you can get anathemas after mythic to stop them from counterplaying you. Obviously the ideal situation is someone else on your team builds it but you can't exactly rely on strangers at times.

It has the same weaknesses as normal Varus, and in mid lane it's waveclear isn't as effortless as most midlaners (even if you build Manamune, which imo isn't a good item on the build path anyway). So it certainly has some downsides but it's definitely not weaker than any other varus build, just different.
