Thank you for understanding how to teach the forehand. There are too many teaching pros including a famous one whose name starts with a P who tell their students just to flick their wrist at the ball which causes all kinds of problems. This teaching pro had a student stand in one spot and just flail at the ball with no emphasis on shoulder turn or leg drive. You're saying all the right things about catching the ball out in front and meeting the ball with the meat of the hand intact before finishing and following through great job thank you.

You are welcome! In case of Patrick - he never tought beginners or club players like me - he only works with already good hittinf juniors so he focuses on details! Amateur adults cannot learn from him - just what I think.. I work with adults on daily basis so I see what works and what does not! Check out my other sessionsn! Hope will be super helpful! Jan 🤗🎾

@@tennisfitappYour point is a good one but you see him teaching very average juniors these same techniques and it's going to stunt their development. The greatest forehands whether you're talking about, Lendl, Agassi, Becker, Nadal, Djokovic or Federer all had one thing in common. The ball is met with a relaxed wrist at impact but the meat of the hand is still striking the ball out in front without breaking the wrist instantaneously on impact. Then the arm naturally proceeds into the finish and follow through.. None of these players were just mindlessly flailing at the ball. Yes, when Serena Williams comes to you already a finished product it's impossible to screw that up and then you can take the credit and attract more students based on that connection. Holger Rune is a very talented person also. Rick Macci teaches the game perfectly whether you're a beginner or a touring pro. And you're pretty good also.

Great drill. I’ve struggled to find the right contact point for so long. It’s so awkward with a semi western grip at first. I’ve been experimenting with this in rallies and found that by removing backswing I’m forced to practice a really well timed leg drive as well. Thanks!

Apparently Quasimodo can’t get enough of a good thing- when the HELL is he gonna stop ringing that damn BELL?!! Oh yeah, you’d be finding me right at the front of the pack of torch-bearing villagers after 5 more minutes of that infernal racket (see what I did there? Racket? Yeah, it’s a gift.)

Also, how come everybody has one of these nice tennis walls, with sidewalls and a bright white painted strip at net height? I can’t find one to SAVE MY LIFE! Not only that, I can’t even find a good unpainted wall with a nice flat surface in front of it. ITS NOT FAIR!! WAAAAH!!!

Okay, all joking aside- this is a great exercise! It’s basically reminding all of us to get back to basics and stop trying to run when we should focus on learning to crawl properly first! We give lip service to the fundamentals, but when you look at what we DO, it’s bass-ackwards! If there’s one take away from your lesson, it’s to put your money where your mouth is and start working on our fundamentals and stop only talking about it... Thank you for this valuable and important reminder!!!
