Lisa you are such a warm and enthusiastic teacher. My son has been wanting to learn piano so last night I gave him a little mini lesson to encourage him to use his thumb! I went “hm Lisa would probably do something fun or silly here to remind a student to use proper fingering”, so I told him that he didn’t want his thumb to get “lonely” and we had a good laugh about it each time he forgot! Vs my usual stern self “use proper fingering, kid” We ended up giving each finger its own unique name last night (his idea), including “Fivey” and “Four-o” because he likes naming things! Thanks again for your wonderful example of a kind, enthusiastic teacher.

I used to play around on this small keyboard I used to have as a kid and taught myself how to play the songs in the book that came with the keyboard. Moved on to teaching myself more piano songs that I really enjoyed like moonlight sonata but, I was not very good at reading music as far as time signature and speed of the notes. I would write in with pencil the letter of the note on the sheet music but, It had to be a song I had already heard so I new the speed. I quit with it and, fast forward to a couple weeks ago, I purchased an electric piano and have started teaching myself how to read music. I found your channel and it has really helped me a lot. Thank you so much!!!

I have a bad left hand and as a result have never been a great player but am proficient in reading music and chords….after 20 years of inactivity I have gone back to playing keyboards since Covid lockdowns (not piano due to my left hand) and get soooooooo much joy out of watching your chord progressions and then experimenting with them on my keyboards 👍👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏

Lisa and Pianote, I found you here on KZbin early this month, and I have been practicing almost every day -- including when I went to a women's silent retreat last week -- I had brought my piano books and some chord charts of my favorite songs (from our worship team) and found a quiet room with a piano and a keyboard, AND kept up with my practicing while there. :) My dad was career Air Force, and I never asked for a piano or lessons. I knew he wouldn't ship a piano across the Atlantic. Long story, but as an adult I started lessons and prayed for a piano. I was given one, but then I became a mom and life got busy. (Of course, I regret not continuing!) I learned to read music years ago and have sung, sang in choirs/ensembles, directed a teen choir, been on a worship team, etc. all my adult life. But the issue of playing with both hands always stumped me. Until -- you're the first piano instructor I've ever heard say that it feels like our hands and our brain don't know how to cooperate (loose paraphrase)... I always thought I needed two heads (one for each hand) in order to play with two hands. BUT you have taught me in this short month how to triumph over this, and in a few short weeks I am playing simple songs with both hands, sometimes slowly, but at least I'm playing, and the chords are looking more familiar!!! I LOVE these videos and your amazing lessons and your sweet spirit! A thousand Thank you's! P.S. You're right -- when we're consistent with practicing, time flies and 15 minutes of practice turns into 30 or 45 minutes or longer. ;) Again, Thank you!

I came across your videos and must say that I love the simplicity of them as I am trying all kinds of things. Thank you for showing the keys played with them being red. I take notes and then try them on my KB. Wow is all I can say as I am learning my way around. Keep up the great work as this is lots of fun to say the least. It is also great to slow the video watch speed as needed to catch the notes. Keep up the GREAT work.
