I've used the water technique with stamp pads that were too jucy. I've had some pads that leaked just sitting in the carousel storage. The ones that leaked were sitting near an ott light and I thought perhaps they got too warm. I'm thinking, it is suggested that we store the ink pads face up, but what if we were to store them face down. I may give this a try and see if I still have enough ink in the pad. Thanks for your video.

Hi Rita! You hit the nail on the head in your first sentence in regard to leaking -- your pads are too juicy. When my ink pads are too juicy, I choose to: do a technique that use lots of ink -- like swiping or a smoosh style of watercolor background; blot my ink pads (as a last resort) to remove some of the excess ink. The Ott Light won't cause your ink pads to leak. My ink pads sit near a window where there is direct sun and no leaking. So, take a few minutes and do some of those techniques to get your ink pads to the just right stage. 🙂

Have you tried sprying the top with water, letting it sit a few minutes then wiping the top? Its a lot of wasted ink if the pad is full.

Sara thank you for sharing. I have never heard of this before, but I will certainly try it with my Mossy Meadow. I have had problems for about a year now, and re inking doesn’t help. It seems scary to put it under the water, but what do I have to loose.

I agree it's scary, Susan. But, it definitely works. My Mossy Meadow wasn't inking properly and now it's like having a brand new ink pad.

Is there any way to fix the crystallizing if you don’t have a refill?

Thanks for asking, Kandice. But, I've not found another satisfactory solution. As a stop gap until you pick up a refill ($4 and you can re-ink many times with one), you can try gently removing the crystalized bits from the top of the pad with something like the edge of a hotel room key.
