One simple trick to fix ALL malfunctions..

The only thing I don’t like about the new malfunctions is that you have to check the chamber before fixing the problem. Racking the bolt is usually taught as the first thing you do when a malfunction occurs. This is because 90% of malfunctions are fixed by doing this. You would only need to check the chamber if racking it doesn’t fix the problem.

Its cool that they made larger mags malfunction more often since its the same in real life. Most large capacity mags tend to run into issues a lot more often than standard mags

In theory, yes, but it's also really exaggerated in tarkov... there are relatively reliable high cap mags out there these days, and most of them are in tarkov. It would, howeverz be cool if the extra weight reduced recoil but really hurt ergos and hipfire spread and maybe even movement speed or jow long it takes to shift in and out of prone. I feel like that would be a much better way to balance them.

@@warmonkey3216that’s not true there are many very reliable extended magazines. The only reason the military doesn’t use them is because the bulk and longer reloading times aren’t worth the trade off of more ammo. Beta mags are some of the best mags you can get, the 100 round and 60 round surefire casket mags are very nice as well. Tarkov exaggerates it to the max. Maybe the Glock KCI drum or whatever is in the game is terrible irl but there’s good options in real life with reliability close to GI mags. (There are better mags but it’s not garbage)

Had my first malfunction yesterday with a junky AK I picked up off a scav in the middle of a close-range gunfight. I had no idea what was happening or how to clear it so let's just say I was dropped pretty quickly. This video is very helpful; hopefully the next time this happens I don't freak out again.

I use default T+Shift, but I do the check chamber on press and fix on release. Should work with a 1 key bind too to so you only need to press once instead of twice

You can also set "inspect weapon" to continuous and "fix malfunction" to release so you hold down L or whatever keyring until it finishes the animation and then release and it clears the malfunction.

you could do this, but its not the quickest. you'd have to know the EXACT time that you can release the key to fix the malfunction. the quickest way would be to spam one button until its fixed, each to their own though 😛

@@meekosaurusReX Hey! idk if you know this, but the keybind menu lets you change that "double tap time-out" there's a slider at the bottom of one of the menus that lets you choose what fraction of a second you want the delay to be. (I personally keep it on .3 s, and I think the standard is .4 s)

Very cool way of dealing with this. I honestly can't believe how terribly thought out the default keybinds for the inspect/fix actions were. Pressing L then shift T, for 2 actions that are literally meant to be done one right after the other...

I don't quite know how BSG manged to make a fairly detailed system simultaneously too simple and also convoluted, but they did. Why they thought performing two separate actions/animation sets in sequence was necessary, when it derives no additional benefits nor difficulty is beyond me. IMO, they need to unify the inspect weapon/chamber feature's and utilize other existing features like racking the bolt or loading a fresh mag to "fix" malfunctions. I'd also like to see the addition of failure to lock, with the use of slamming the bolt or forward assist. Field cleaning either with a kit, a shake and a tap, pouring water on it or even cycling the action and forcing firing until the weapon self-clears; would be nice maintenance feature's that don't require a dedicate malfunction keypresses and could be part of good weapon care system for more advanced players.

What this game needs is a solid wipe cycle spent entirely on removing bloat and reducing the feature creep in this game. I mean, this game is so overly complicated for no reason in so many areas... if you reduced the bloat and clutter by just 20% the game is still way more convoluted than 99% of the rest of the shooters on the market.

@@kmieciu4ever mostly stick mags, the drums were fazed out. They just look cool so that's mostly how they are represented. Pretty much every weapon that was originally issued with drum mags moved to box mags in their later life, example the Thompson. A good way to think about it is if it worked well we would have kept using them.

Hey Lew pretty sure if you switch the press and release order around you can fix malfunctions with one button press. You just need to wait for the inspection animation to finish on the press of the key, then on the release you can clear the jam. That’s how I’ve got my binds setup at least

you could but by setting it to the other way you run the risk of getting stuck in a check gun animation loop if you keep having to take your finger off the button because your getting shot at and keep having to press other keys to duck behind other corners etc. (i have had people charging and had to keep dropping back while reloading etc and having to hold a key during that might not be ideal.) the beauty of this setup is that if your character knows the issue because there has already been an inspection the press option triggers when you press the button fixing the jam but if you have not done an inspection yet the press option is skipped because it is not active which means that you can just spam the key and the gun will go through the unjam process every time. needing to spam a key is much easier when your trying to juggle multiple things the way tarkov makes you.

By only ever using guns bought with 100 durability, and usually repairing them if I have used them a lot (basically anything under 90 is a repair), I've managed to only ever get *one* malfunction this whole wipe (currently, am level 34) as a PMC when I forgot to repair an AKS74U, and that malfunction despite killing me, saved me from killing santa and losing a whole ass point of fence rep, so if yall ever wanna totally avoid malfunctions, just use guns with good durability, you'll run into them very rarely. With scavs you can't avoid it happening occasionally but still, worth keeping in mind, they will be very very rare occurrences if you remember to fix your weapons and don't use scav guns/buy super used garbage rods off the flea

I do like that they added this but in most cases your not gonna get jam every 30 rounds sprayed I have shot a m249 over 200 rounds and it didn’t overheat or Jam and that weapon is notorious for jamming so much. I like the idea but when it comes to Jams they do not happen as frequently as shown in the game.

Quick fix, sever overheating doesnt make the rate of fire slow down, it says "Weapon's rate of fire changes", I believe that it works just like in real life and the rafe of fire speed up!

I had 1 malfunction this wipe, non-lethal scenario, and I have a pet project of mine to grind a Ppsh into the ground; early wipe I picked up some scav Ppsh, have used it a little bit on factory and some quick runs on customs, I also realised I am using the most damaging ammo too, and it's 35 durability right now, I always get it from insurance because who wants a piece of shit like that. Gun never once malfunctioned and the only malfunction I had was in 92 condition AKS-74, using low condition burn, low chance for failure to feed ammo in a low chance for failure to feed mag and here we are... WWII weapons were built different. I'll make that gun explode.

This does not seem to work anymore. Even setting the fix malfunction to "press" which should obviously then take priority over the "release" key it just leads to you inspecting your gun multiple times rather than fixing the malfunction.
