@ToniHunterOne: I re-uploaded this video recently with an improved quality version. Unfortunately, that deleted old comments that had helped explain the story for those that were unsure about it. The rickshaw driver at 18:44 . . . is the same person as the dying man at 21:56. He was in two places at the same time, guiding Fraser to Mai LIng; there are different ways to interpret how that bilocation/NDE/OBE might work. Enough people get confused about this that the script should have made it clearer by emphasizing the rickshaw driver's appearance (with a closeup, for example) . . .

I dont understand why Mei Ling left after agreeing to marry Harry. He eventually tracks her down just in the Nick of time,and she states again that she wants to marry him. I don’t understand why she fled? Oh,another thing, she referred to him as “You Englishmen...” He has an American accent.....?
@ToniHunterOne4 жыл бұрын
@@marianneodell7637 Yes, he does have an American accent. Could be an error in the writing. Maybe she was just supposed to comment on his speaking English, not on him being and Englishman. Then again, maybe we all look and sound alike to her? /j

@@marianneodell7637 Mei Ling has second thoughts about potentially ruining Fraser's career by his having an Asian wife. This was a topical issue in the 1950s after WW2 and Korea. The plot of the musical "South Pacific", for example . . .

The rickshaw driver’s soul came back and drove the Lieutenant to Mei Ling as his one last act worthwhile doing. There are many tales like this throughout this world.

Besides the story line that moves along so suspensefully, this gem is a study in cultural sensitivity and diversity, the meeting of two cultures so respectfully presented..

Good episode. I see actor, James Hong, as the tour guide. OSB was one of the best shows to ever come out. Still today It is chilling. 👍

This show is iconic and in the same class as the Twilight Zone and Outer Limits. It's a shame that only one season has been restored and properly released on DVD.

@movierun: Right. The 35mm prints for Seasons 2 & 3 are just sitting in storage somewhere in southern California. No incentive for Paramount to release them on DVD. Only hope: one of us wins the lottery and buys them out . . .

That Chinese tour guide from the begining of the show is called James Hong, same actor from Seinfeld's episode "The Chinese Restaurant (season 2, ep 1)". He plays the Restaurant Maitre. Lol... how cool.

The unvarnished and unequivocal " TRUTH " of Mei Ling's words and subsequent actions is " the STUFF " that many find unpopular and unpleasant and unpalatable to say the very LEAST.
