Following their Song For Europe 1982 win on 24 March 1982, this was Sally Ann Triplett and Stephen Fischer's third Bardo appearance on Top of the Pops, on 29 April 1982.
'One Step Further' was the highest new chart entry in the 11 April 1982 chart at no.16, and went on to reach no.2 in the 25 April 1982 chart. The song was placed 7th of 18 countries in the Eurovision Song Contest 1982, held in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, on 24 April 1982.

Should have won Eurovision. But the performance that night was dire, as I recall. Hence we were left with the abysmal and depressing "A Little Peace" by Nicole Hohloch :(

It was not the performance, it was because of the Falklands war just starting, NO British entry could have won however good they were. Britain was being punished.

It wasn't so much their performance (though it wasn't great), it was the terrible mix of live orchestra and pre-recorded backing they had to perform over, and it wasn't the Falklands war of course!

Had the backing track been used instead of the BBC orchestra at ESC - and the mics been mixed properly - it would surely have challenged Nicole. Instead, the whole performance came over as an awful am-dram village hall production.
