The ability to restart from the last checkpoint is a welcome feature. I know the taxi was already there in Vice City and San Andreas, but they just get you to start off from the beginning.

That feature is so useful specifically for 3 and Vice City, cause they feel a lot more outdated to play compared to gta SA and they have tons of frustrating missions you often end up failing because of the bad controls and terrible AI and restart them from the beginning each time makes you want to quit the game and never play the story again after the 5th consecutive fail, but with checkpoints it's a lot better (though they should have made more checkpoints for some missions in gta 3 imo)

⁠playing the OG vice city rn, and I dont miss that feature. The missions are short and theyre still fun the second or third time. Imo id rather experience what rockstar intended in 03 than the “definitive” version with roblox looking graphics that butcher the entire experience.

Real interiors are almost always good. Only time they're not good is story driven and/or in linear games where too much freedom can take the player's focus away from the story or the main game.

The Definitive Edition offers a lot of great improvements over the originals, I really think it's a bit overly hated and too harshly judged especially when you think about the fact that it was made by a very small development team (10 - 20 people iirc) although I guess that's been the trend ever since Cyberpunk's launch.

Other features: Autosaves Checkpoints so you don’t have to go back to the mission guy Improved Control (on pc) Better handling of cars Better map interface and a marker that shows you the route (I mean for sure the graphics but that is no surprise)

Unless people have the original copies of the OG 3D GTAs, the chances of the system being modded in will be extremely small since the OGs were delisted the moment the "Definitive Edition" was released.

Definitely not worth 60 bucks. Bought it for 20 and felt that's the right price for this collection. It's not that definitive but nowhere near as bad as people make it either. If you played them back in the day, it's all nostalgia. That's all it really is.

I would go as far to say the grass and foliage look better than gta v’s. The only issue is the popping in is pretty bad. Also the lighting is pretty good

I just busted out my OG Xbox to play the originals. And yeah the gore is nice, as well as the original soundtracks but I think most people who complain about these modern versions, haven’t played the originals in some time. They aren’t that bad at all. The checkpoint system alone makes them so much more digestible.

Another thing is that the Hydra can fly in either jet mode or hover mode. And TBH, I was only 3 years old when the original GTA San Andreas came out for PS2 in 2004, and my parents (mostly my mom) wouldn’t let me play that game that young. Those who grew up playing the OG versions, you guys are really lucky to have really cool parents that allowed you to play those games growing up. I wish my parents were cool enough to let me play those games.

I still would argue that GTA SA DE does have more than 1 improvement. Better draw distance, better vegetation, better lighting, very slightly better aiming and a scroll wheel, 3D Radar with functional GPS, improved textures (non-art related ones like roads and building walls), etc. This is a garbage remaster, but if all the other factors were acceptable, or the same or similar to the original, this would be a great remaster.

Nor are the definitve editions any better than the original bugs like fps affecting swimming still exist,with some added bugs and again,you can achieve a very similar result with mods,these remasters also have a bunch of compromises made for the mobile version of the games as they are based on those Also "low fps" Completely wrong,the frame limiter is toggleable in the original,and a bunch of the high framerate issues are still there you'd think they'd atleast fix those,oh right it was outsourced to a company who only made mobile ports Call me "blinded by nostalgia" but the "definitive" edition isn't any better than the original infact its the same game with a fancy skin+extra issues due to the engine change and some issues introduced by the fact that its based on mobile ports It may be nitpicking but,animated stuff in the world also no longer animates,ie the chicken statue pecking at the ground the destructible things go through the ground if hit instead of falling over ONTO the ground and eventually dissapearing all weather looks practically the same all 3 games look the same the terrain doesn't always match with the collision and in san andreas actual clouds no longer exist, making one of the missions look stupid as you jump out of a moving plane,but its not actually moving,but because the clouds aren't there you can see down to the ground and it isn't moving, look i'm not gonna list every issue,but these are some of the issues

If only they reverted the character models back to the non broken original ones. The DE models are absolutely terrible or at best, non offensive, but barely better. You'd think they'd actually try getting the thing that's on screen most of the time to look good, but no. Couldn't be arsed to actually properly develop a functional remaster of your iconic games... They really should've taken it slower & only release GTA 3 reworked competently for $60,-. Then do the others at a later point in time...
