Always go a size up, esp with diamond cut. Like Braden said, its rare that someone buys a chain and says "its to thick" that usually it is the other way around. If your going to be buying a nice big gold chain, might as well go all in.

Facts Went with 24inch 6MM TriColor and couldn't miss. Picked up a 5mm to put with it for 2 chains and they look FAT together. cheaper than buying a 10mm

Yup..bought a 4mm diamond cut rope off him it seemed INCREDIBLY smaller for a 4mm.. took it tona jeweler and it was 2.7. I was furious....seemed a bit excessive even for being diamond cut. Unfortunately by the time I returned home from work trip it was too late to send back...ended up up selling back to jeweler
@seankiesling205410 ай бұрын
This unfortunately happened to me with Jacoje. I ordered a 4mm diamond cut it looked unbelievably small i took it to 2 jewelers they both measured in ar 3.4mm. Too much time had passed to refund so i ended up taking a huge hit when selling it back to a jeweler. The gram weight was wrong on the card that came with the chain. I had plans of buying my next several chaihs from Jacoje but I decided after that to never go thru him again

I bought a 20” diamond cut solid rope chain 14k back in 1988. I paid $515.00 OTD with tax. My Dad said it was the dumbest thing I ever did! However the dumbest thing I ever did was sell it about two years later for $100! Yea I was 19 and very ignorant of what I had. I’m just taking a wild guess but if I had hung on to that chain, today maybe $3,500? Where I live you don’t even see solid rope chains anymore! Are they made here in America still? Also, what is your guess what my old chain would be worth today? Thanks.
@DemonTimeAfterNine3 жыл бұрын
2 years late but I just bought a rope chain exactly like that 5mm D/C thick and I got it for 2 grand, fair price I'd say As for how much yours would be worth today would depend on the thickness "mm" A 4 could go for $1,500 and the less thick the lower price

@NoKreativeUsername7 жыл бұрын
Tom Fung i am talking used or pawn shop. I never said to walk into a jewelry store and expect to pay any less. Its still gold at the end of the day and just a good polish/buff away from looking like a new/unworn piece. I myself am not "in the field" but enjoy gold jewelry as both an investment and to wear. I never claimed to be smart and would never ever talk a jeweler down like I would a Pawnshop salesman, ebay seller or craigslist poster. I am smart enough to know when and where to haggle but then again I would never ever buy new as the overhead money will be paid by the uneducated consumer, not me. I will come on the backend and buy used where the pricing can get near or at melt value. I want my money tied up in the gold not the labor and fluff associated with a new piece. My method has work d for me as I have an above average gold jewelry collection and its constantly growing. I am patient and am never in a rush to buy. I do me. Yall can do it however u want.

Let's see so divide that ropes weight in half and there is your 14k content. The rest of the composition isn't gold at all. Especially with 14k it requires more rigid metals and alloys. I make jewelry as well. And I don't like ropes. Francos are ok if diamond cut.
