Lucas going to Jimmy’s funeral even though he thought Jimmy killed Keith is something not talked about enough

Right?! He gets so much hate for the few mistakes he made, but people just forget all the amazingly selfless things he also did. Like going to the funeral of the person he thought killed his Dad (because Keith was his Dad...) because he had been his friend and he didn't want Jimmy's Mum to be alone... He had absolutely no obligation to go. Everyone would completely understand if he didn't go. I wouldn't have blamed him for spitting on his grave (it would be horrible considering we know the truth and all that, but it'd be understandable given the circumstances...) and yet he just went to the funeral and it was so good.

@@thejay3804 I don’t think you understand what I was saying. As far as Lucas knew at the time, Jimmy had murdered Keith. Jimmy went through so much, he deserved so much better and I have so much sympathy for him. But at this point Lucas owed him NOTHING. If he’d actually killed Keith (which he hadn’t!) that would’ve been an absolutely awful thing to do. I wouldn’t have blamed Lucas for reacting with anger towards him. My point was that Lucas showed so much compassion by going to the funeral of the person he believed killed his dad and acting respectfully there… I wouldn’t have been happy if he’d reacted in any of the ways I mentioned, it would’ve been awful to watch and Jimmy wouldn’t have deserved it. But what I was saying is that I wouldn’t have blamed Lucas if he had, considering everything.

I agree with you so much. No matter Karen's pain, blaming Lucas and making him feel even worse than he already is was really shitty. I can understand her pain but never, never, at the expense of her child. That she yells at him for putting himself in danger, I understand. But it's to be done later, when he will be in better condition. Blaming an already grieving, traumatizing child serves no purpose other than to take out her own frustration on him and, as a parent, she should know better.

You said you don't really feel super attached to any of the relationships super hard, I kind of agree, with the exception of Nathan & Haley. It's pretty clear that they are the relationship the writer's were most invested in as they are set up within the first few episodes of season 1 & we're still actively followed them 3 1/2 seasons later. They have their drama, obviously, but it's clear they are closely tied together in a way none of the other relationships are because they keep coming back to one another. It's so clear they are who the show is mostly built around as far as core relationships go, especially with their marriagem

I think it's impossible to watch this episode without tearing up or full-on crying. It was so emotional & heartbreaking. I think the writers try to make the parents on this show imperfect so Karen does have some rough moments. I mean all the parents are awful imo lol. Payton, Brooke, & Haley's parents abandoned them, and I can make a list of how terrible Dan & Deb are so I think they throw in these moments with Karen to show she isn't perfect as the rest. YES to everything you said about the triangle, I felt you so much when you said it would be bad writing and how the development would be worthless.

Dan Scott knew to the core of his soul, he was jealous of Keith, Keith took in the family that Dan abandon, adopted Lucas, But Dan just had to take it away (I would say more but I'm not trying to spoil anything).

Brooke throwing a party was not the smartest thing ever lol. But the scene in the room with Lucas was so cute. I also loved all the brooke/peyton moments. Loved seeing Lucas smiling again in the library talking to Peyton, even if just briefly. Honestly, its always been about Lucas/Peyton imo, and from season 1 they made that pretty clear that was their preference. This episode was fantastic.

She slapped Lucas when she heard Brooke was pregnant. Blames her own son for being selfless and saving someone from a school shooting. Blames him for saving a horrible man from a fire. Treats Lucas like complete dirt when he moves in with Dan. Tells Lucas he is crazy and doesn’t listen to him when he says Dan killed Keith. She was good for the most part, but she was a bad mom plenty of times.

I think you're missing the point on the whole being friends with people outside of your usual social circle. Mouth isn't saying to be friends with everyone but to be friends with a variety of people and don't close yourself off to someone.

I always thought it was because of real life Brooke and Lucas getting divorced that they put Lucas and Peyton together at that point. I don't think they'll talk about it directly on their podcast. They mentioned they were told different things about what was planned from the beginning of who would Lucas end up with.

I remember watching this as a 12 or 13 year old kid for the first time, I hated Rachel this season. I was so team Brooke that anyone Brooke hated, I hated lol she was my ride or die and all my friends watched the show with me and would always called me “Brooke” in high school because of all the shit luck she had with boys and her parents. (Even tho peyton obvi had parent issues, she still had 3 parents who loved her and Brooke was quote ‘bored and ignored’ and felt unloveable at times) I would call my BFF Peyton because she related to her so much so that was a cute little memory for us now 😂 now as an adult I can see why there’s no reason to hate Rachel really..
