great video! I noticed you were using the green master mutes, there are also the purple pattern based mutes, you can toggle from the green to purple. good to use the purps for setting up the set when you know you want to start a new pattern with something muted and not have to remember to mute it ahead of time.

Really useful video, thanks. I've been trying to keep all my different song sections on the one pattern, don't really like having different patterns per song as I always end up in variations of sample volume/filter/fx that I want to keep consistent throughout

They should just make it a parameter lock option where you put one at the end of a loop and it carries the global fx through to the next pattern

Hi Liam, great video! How did you setup that DN follows the songmode from DT?
@LiamKillen2 жыл бұрын
All you have to do is sync DN to DT- make sure it’s tracking and you’re good to go
@tubeMonger2 жыл бұрын
It's very close to a tracker now without having a display to see the values in the patterns.

Not sure what the issue with the pattern based workflow is? If you chain patterns you’re saying the delay and reverb resets? Are you sure you just don’t have different delay and reverb settings for the pattern you’re chaining/transitioning into? Usually when I make a song I just make sure to keep the reverb/delay settings consistent unless I want a dryer section or something.
@LiamKillen2 жыл бұрын
I see what you’re saying but With my workflow the goal is to use these delays/reverbs as builds going from one section to another- the settings don’t carry over with this sort of pattern based workflow and it hinders this sort of workflow.
@JasonCornwell2 жыл бұрын
That's been my biggest issue with Syntakt as well: especially when using the analog dual vco engine I want to be able to play with the filter on the fly and have filter settings persist across pattern changes. Solution for me has been to midi sequence external gear for any sounds that I want to tweak live and have those tweaks persist across patterns
@saggydogs2 жыл бұрын
@@LiamKillen Your Octatrack will solve that problem easily if you pass the DT audio thru it.

@@LiamKillen what if you set the fx to Global?
@falcon562152 жыл бұрын
What about the global settings added in update 1.30... Easily adjust global FX and MIX settings. There is a new GLOBAL FX/MIX menu item under SETTINGS that lets you set global parameters, instead of being limited to the active pattern.

"song mode" is the least of what the octatrack has to offer. that thing beats the shit out of the digitakt in every way
@LiamKillen Жыл бұрын
Except for its weird backwards workflow lol
@christdolphin69 Жыл бұрын
@@LiamKillen there are actually a lot of things the digitakt does better. i use it for all of my midi sequencing, despite owning an octatrack. but overall, the things octatrack does well greatly outweigh the overall sound design and production capabilities of the dt. i dont know if i've ever heard someone say they only wanted on because of the Arranger

Hi man, I have a question that many users would like to see solved. Do you know if there's an easy way to chain songs? It's taking me too much time to get from one song to another. 😕
@LiamKillen Жыл бұрын
hmmm...that's a really good question actually - I guess the best way would to be to chain several songs within one "song mode" - know what i mean?
@ruffian01 Жыл бұрын
@LiamKillen Yeah, but there is no option to do that after a song. You can only LOOP or STOP at the end of a song 😫 I guess Elektron needs to fix that on the next update

i have the Digitakt and Octatrack and I see Song Mode as similar to Arrangement mode on the Octatrack, in fact it seems modelled on that. However no way can song mode on the respective Elektron units even compare, due to the sheer volume of real samples you can have on an Octatrack. I wish it could be more of course, I wish the flex machine could have far more memory, like a RAM you could increase internally. I think due to iPad apps like Lumbeat Mid East Drummer, and of course Loopy Pro, The Octatrack can act as a mastering machine or even a playing machine, so I might be considering selling my Digitakt. it really depends on what it can do that the Octatrack can't do.
