Those "red pieces of metal" are Loop Aliens! There are loads of vloggers providing information on their use. I have found that if you were to make thick shock cord loops around each of the material loops on the tarp and then attach your guylines to each of the shock cord loops; it will take up the tension and when the wind blows take up some of the strain on the tarp fixings thereby prolonging their life. It will also help to prevent the guyline stretching and requiring adjustment. Again loads of advice from our American cousins on UTube on this subject. If you were to peg out the center guys and peg out the corners last you achieve a taut tarp. I would advise you to put your door shock cords inside the tarp because if it rains you will not get wet closing the other door! Top Tip. If you use a fixed ridgeline, you can place a walking pole or straight stick across the top of the ridgeline with a shock cord at the ends attached to the center loops on the roof of the tarp. Saves additional pegging out guylines for the center. If you are up for it have a look at a book entitled "The Ultimate Hang 2". This is an illustrated comprehensive guide to hammock camping.

Hello Jimmy, nice concise review good sir! I think like you, I’d have to have a ridgeline running through. I’d ditch the standard guy line system and have my own paracord. As Grays says, corner loops should be bigger. The price should be less too 😁 Tell #onewind this 😉👍🏼 I’m still not 100% sold on the tarp just yet going by some vids out there but, I do love their 11ft hammock and underquilt.

Nice bit of kit, especially being able to close off the ends.Hammock camping is my preferred sleeping shelter(apart from winter when i like the comfort of a hot tent.My Hennessy jungle explorer is a well designed ,rapid set up system, where the hex shaped tarp is already attached to the ridgeline(as is the hammock).Got the set up /take down time to about 7 mins, which is ideal for when its lashing down(as it generally is in Wales😄).

@@LundysWildcampBushcraft yeah maybe in the future ill go better quality but my dd 3.5× 3.5 has served me well so far. Also use another smaller tarp (cheap ebay one) for making a porch off the side of my main hammock tent set up (with a closed end like in your video). Still a great looking tarp though BTW and one ill be keeping an eye on for the future.
