To me, the official remake came across as trying to constantly keep up the panic factor which, sure, works for a boss theme and ultimately does capture the unpredictability of the original but when you've heard both of the versions enough of times to know what's coming, I ultimately end up prefering the original for the fact that the underlying emotions don't change way too often, which is a theme this version, I find, manages to capture. My nostalgia lenses are way too thick for anything to "replace" the original PS1 version, but if any song gets the title of a "perfect sequel" it sure as hell, is this one, here. Amazing job!
