In the original he wasn't seen or interacted with that much, you learn about him as you go through- like learning that the Midgard zolom got impaled by that big ass pike, and learned that was Sephiroth's doing- it gives you a scope of his power without him having to wave his cock around like he does in the remake- and that's why I think he's resible in the remake.
